When posting to another thread I just realized how long I've had my cable modem.

The thing has got to be 7 - 8 years old.  Would getting a new modem improve my speeds?

I use Comcast Cable as my ISP & I think they'd charge me if I said I wanted a new one.

My speeds are OK, over 3K and I ping my favorite BF2 servers under 30 ms.

Does this fall under "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" category?

I think so, lol.

Only really worth buyin another one if yes indeed it's broke or you get connection losses.

But, if u have any spare money, go for a good one, like a 1337 one

I want to say that your old modem may be faster than a new one

depends on your connection speed

my old sb3100 does fine at 7mbit down... thats probably about maxing it out

buy a new one yourself, don't buy it from the cable company

call your isp and ask them to run an error check while you download something from a fast server, and also ask them to check your dB levels...if either of them are high, you should get a new one, cause the one you have is on its last leg.
