Ranked BF2 Server on WebServer????? Read this

Hey. I own a webserver. Is there a way to install BF2 on my webserver so i can run a ranked bf2 server?

I mean come on, honestly, the hosts that charge outragious amounts of money for ranked bf2 server hosting, rip you off. Im sure its much easier/cheaper for a technicaly knowledgable person to do it themselves.
So is it possible?

No, it's not possible. First off, the webserver probably won't be able to handle it (depends on the specs), and second, you have to get it ranked through EA.

You could rent a box from Hypernia.net for $150 a month and run as many ranked servers as you wish (or until the server starts to lag). This is what my clan does.

I think the ranked providers pay some money to EA to get their servers ranked so they can "rip off" customers - that's what we call economy

you need the ranked server code for that

only way to do it it to become an EA UK or EA ranked server provider

thats means paying EA some money for you to use there ranked code system

and id hardly say the prices are extortinate that you cant afford them

I read somewhere that EA was only going to allow a certain amount of GSP to have ranked servers, and that the limit was reached - meaning you can't become a ranked GSP anymore.

Not sure if that's true, though.

Anyway, I'd like to know the price they charge off their GSP and if this is a "flat rate" more or less, or that they have to pay something to EA for each server they host.

only one way to find out... gotta ask someone in the know, if they hit they're limit, then you could atleast hit a waiting list, and get the info straight from them instead of going off second hand info.

If people could just set up ranked servers we would have more server side hax that caused the stats crap a few days ago.... so you will only ever be able to get a ranked server from trusted providers.
