What do you think the future of is youtube is? 100 million videos are viewed everday and 35 thousand videos are uploaded everyday.

Do you think they will improve the picture quality of the current videos? The video quality is rather poor for youtube, yet youtube is top dog in this industry. Think this may be an area they will develop over the next few years?

for a free to place to upload your video and send it out for millions to see i dont think they owe us by making it better quality.. it might be something done eventually but im sure they have alot more things they can incorporate.

its not the youtube's fault that some video's are crud quality.
they have a page with recommendations on what file types to use, and aspect's. so it's whoever uploads that didn't do it right.

they are however adding some new things.. like using legal songs in your video.. you just pick one of their's. or soon to come, you choose what preview icon the video has. and so on..
Plus, google is merging their videos into youtube now... or the other way around.. meh.

The main reason movies are poor quality on youtube is that they get compressed a second time by youtube.

The reason for this, and to help answer the question of quality is Bandwidth. Just now, people still have shitty bandwidths so are not able to download the video stream as fast as others, so to be able to appeal to the larger audience, the videos are of lesser quality.

In the future, the speed of the internet is either going to get a lot faster for the majority of users, or it is going to remain the same, or it will slow down (due to the ever increasing internet activity). So what ever happens, sites like youtube will develop to suit the needs. Hopefully the speeds will increase, then higher quality files will be placed on the site and you will see an improvement.

I barely use YouTube.

It isn't as good quality as DailyMotion! and its slower than Daily.

I don't understand why it is so popular when you have DailyMotion as well. And they have all the football updates and goals. Which Youtube struggles to get.
