I think there's enough votes in to make my point. I've noticed something on forums where whenever IQ is discussed, there always seem to be alot geniuses around. People throwing out gaudy IQ numbers to emphasize the fact that they are very smart so that they'll be taken more seriously. In any case, there's much more than there should be statistically.
The IQ test is relative!!!! Your score is determined by how you stack up against the general population so as to yield a normal distribution, or "bell curve" used in statistical analysis. The median should always be 100.

Everybody can't have IQ's over 120! This is what higher IQ scores actually means in terms of where you stack up against the rest of the population:
It is statistically impossible for all of you to be as smart as you think you are. The bell curve should round out at 100 but for us it rounds out at 121-130. I'll ignore the disproportionate number of 160+ iq's in our poll because those are 1/33,000. The chance of having even two 160+ members registered on this site is literally 1 in a million...for both of em to be on today...even smaller. While I do expect people hanging out in an internet forum to be slightly more intelligent than the general population, this site isn't a meeting point for the world's greatest thinkers.
So where is the problem? Some will blow it off as e-nlargement because of the nature of the internet. However, the results do remarkably depict a bell curve:

So while I think there may be some exaggeration by voters, the fact that the bell curve is somewhat maintained means that the real explanation is not this because it would mean that everybody's inflating their real IQ identically to maintain the bell curve. You guys should appreciate this because it means I don't think the voters are lying.
So what's the answer for the "Online IQ Phenomenon"? This post by liquidator sums it up:
You want to know you real IQ? Go see a professional tester or IQ association. And if you ever feel like mentioning your IQ on this forum then be prepared to show us your genius membership card.
And for those of you who think you've actually got a 160 IQ...well that's probably evidence of the fact that you're not all that smart.

The vast majority of you guys have only taken online or computer based IQ tests. They're not real or accurate. Some of them have commercial intentions. Some of them let you cheat. Some of them aren't even IQ tests. If you've done online tests you'll probably have gotten inconsistent results whereas a real IQ test is remarkably consistent. People probably take their best scores as evidence of their genius which means that there a quite a few flawed online IQ tests which consistently increase your IQ by 20-30 points. There you have it.liquidat0r wrote:
I know you have said not to post, but is there anywhere I can find my out what my IQ is online?
