I recently spent AU$2000 upgrading my PC, but my family has come into some money and I am able to upgrade again,

Currently I have:

OS: Windows XP 32bit service pack 2
MB: ASUS P5B
CPU: Intel core2 duo 2.13Ghz
Graphics:  Nvidia 8800GTX made by Gainward
Ram: 1 Gig
Sound X-Fi Xtreme music
Hard Drive 1x 250 GB 2x 120 GB
Monitor: Phillips 109B5 19 inch CRT monitor

I would like:

OS: XP pro 64bit Or Vista premium <-- what makes that better than 32 bit.
MB: ASUS Commando or ASUS Striker Extreme <-- which would be better
CPU: Intel Core2 Duo 2.66Ghz <-- or keep what I have
Graphics: ASUS 8800GTX <-- or live with the problem riddled card I have
Ram: at least 2 GB <-- is more than 2 better or to much, I run a lot of memory hungry Apps
Sound: X-fi Xtreme Music  <-- I'm happy with this card
Hard Drive: 2x 250GB <-- I have Western Digital so I'll probably stick with WD
Monitor: ASUS MW221U 22 inch LCD DVI HDCP Monitor <-- is 22 inch to big or should I go for a 19 inch LCD
Extra Hard Drive: 1x WESTERN DIGITAL 150Gb SATA Hard Drive 10K RPM 16 Mb cache for windows and important apps.

I would really Appreciate some feed back and as soon as my post count is high enough I will +1 anyone that replies with some good help... BTW: what is the post count before you can +1 others??? I know i could search for it but I have to go to work...

Thanks Lt.J.G.Davis

The only thing I'd change would be:

2GB of RAM.

Faster processor(price cuts coming soon)

Dual 250GB WD in RAID0

Maybe a 24in Dell widescreen

If your GPU is buggy, get a new one

One thing you failed to mention is what PSU you have. If it's a generic or "came with my case" power supply you might do well to replace it.

Then there's stuff like keyboard(G15 or 11), mouse(MX518) and speakers(Z5300e).

Everything else is good. Stick with the OS you have, but switch to Vista down the line, once there's some games out that use DX10. If you do decide to jump to Vista, I'd up the RAM to 4GB.

thanks for the reply,

My PSU is ThermalTake Tough Power 750w.

I have a Logitech G-15 Keyboard and G-7 Mouse but I'm thinking of switching to the G-5 mouse, I'm sick of swapping the batteries in the middle of a game...

thanks again...

the raptor for your OS will help out a bit, that + 2x250's in raid will own

I'd just do that for now and save until the prices drop(which they should within a few months) to do the proc/mem/videocard/new motherboard

22" is not too big. at all. i like that size...i honestly think its the sweet spot right now...samsung makes a good 22" lcd for not that much...i would get that over the asus your looking at.

also, you'll be good with 2bg ram...having 4 only increases your e-penis thickness.

dont go for a better proc unless you go for the extreme edt. otherwise, its not worth it. you can buy a 50$ CPU cooler and get it up to the same speeds.

i would personally go with one of the T-revision EVGA motherboards...the ASUS ones are way overpriced for what they are imo.

i would get 2 of the raptors and RAID them together, and then have the 250G you already have as a secondary.

dont get vista or xp64...both are too buggy. stick with your 32-bit os.

LMAO only $25/hr thats pretty good...

Hell if you were to teach me you'd have nearly $100,000 in a year, but it will take a lot longer than that to teach me the right way to play...

Thanks again...
