8800 GTS... should I upgrade to 8800GTX? I'm planning on getting an HD LCD 24" widescreen @ 1920 x 1200 res (http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/prod … u=320-4335)... I know my 8800GTS would be able to handle regular programs, however I'm unsure if it'll be able to handle bf2/2142 at that resolution (I want to run at full resolution) What I'm asking is, should I wait until prices drop on the 8800GTX to get one? I was looking at this one... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6814130079 (My PSU is 550 Watt, so I should have enough, Minimal being 450)

Thanks in advance...

having only 320MB gfx ram might be a problem. But now that the R600 launch is just days away, i would wait at least until it is released. If you intend to resell its price may drop considerably though. Getting a card with more ram is probably a good idea if you want to run this kind of resolution, or you could go SLI

Yes, however the 640 880GTS's are slower, so that's why I was considering a GTX, because it has much more memory and it's faster... How do you like your Raptor hard drive? Do you notice a significant difference?

640 and 320 GTSs are the same speed at lower resloutions. GTXs are more powerful, but if you look at the specs of the 2900XT's it looks like it will demolish a 8800GTX. But we won't know until we have proper benchmarks

I like my Raptor. Not really much faster than 2 disks in a raid 0 though. It is a lot faster than a normal single HD. Loading Windows/Apps/Maps is fast. I'm usually first into a map, even though my PC is not top end anymore (especially since I dropped the clock down to 2.5 GHz @ stock V)

Oh cool, because you probably run it just for your games, with your music on your other hard drive, correct?

I'd suggest you look at a R600-based device for your next graphics card - the HD 2900XT seems fantastic!

Wait for them to release the 8800Ultra, so you can either buy that, or get the GTX for less (atleast $100 off current prices).

Well considering the heat, wattage usage and price I think in long terms the high end r600 isn't really worth it. Plus isn't the 8900 suppose to come out in the fall of this year.

550 watt psu should support 8800GTX, right? (Says minimal is 450)

did a quick psu calc and with that set up + 8800GTX you should need about 380W. So seems like it should work. How many amps do you have on the +12V rail?

This is my PSU

Idk anymore than wattage, sorry.
I have a display that tells me how much power I'm consuming, I use no more than ~ 250 watts... During gameplay...

you'll be fine. the 380 W i calculated was a theoretical maximum.

Would an additional 2 gigs of memory significantly increase my PSU usage? DDR-400. (Would it be okay to have an 8800GTX and an additional two gigs of memory - 4 total)
