Oh god you're -that- guy, you press the speak button and all we get is an echo of the grenades going off, your lame ass excuse of music and it even echoes what you've said before you have said it.
*sigh*

I use Logitech Precision Gaming Headset. It had "gaming" in it and the word "precision", I figured it had to be good, and hey for £20 it's a great headset, I can't complain.

I use the array mic on a £45 webcam, but I keep it a nice distance from my speakers so I pick up not much background noise, seems to work ok.

I just use a little logitech free-standing mic - I wasn't prepared to sacrifice my 5.1 to get a headset.

I use a 3 year old Playstation 2 logitect headset with the ear piece ripped out so I can still wear  ear bud headphones easily....

I really prefer to wear headphones while I play so id say look for something with nice stereo headphones, or something you can wear yours with....

And yeah, if you can avoid the one that sits on your table it is nice to not hear echos + tv + your stereo + what I had just said....

I know what you mean, I have Klipsch 5.1 Promedias to get the job done.  You could always just plug in the mic but not the headphones on your headset.  I have a Logitech Extreme PC Gaming Headset (not sure what makes it so extreme) that plugs neatly into the controls for my speakers.

As far as coms go...keep it short.  You are not stepping each other through the whole battle.  Important to remember when you are talking, they are listening to you.  It becomes a little distracting when someone is chatting too much.

I like to set up the next sequence of events then keep pretty quiet unless needed.

Talking between battles=Good communication

Talking during battles=Distracted/Dead soldiers

Not saying remain silent when you see someone trying to flank your buddies, but just be brief.

I use the http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/produ … NTID=10013 Deluxe USB headset from Logitech.

It's helped my game CONSIDERABLY.  Mostly because of the other people I've met while playing who are willing to share hints/tips/strategies while playing.

I use Teamspeak also.

i use a sennheiser headset (great sound!) and a headset mic from an FM radio from this school for deaf kids. it's a 1.5mm jack that I have to put into an 3.5mm adapter but the sound quality is brilliant - i've used it as a mic in my guitar (no pickup) and the sound reproduction was amazing for such a little mic. and it was free! normally can pick em up for next to nothing though, try contacting australian hearing if your in AU.
