I think some might feel differently about this topic than others. Earlier I got yelled at for not staying in one spot to command. If I can place a UAV and wait for it to die while playing, I think that's a good commander (IO). I can get 20 kills per round and win 6 rounds in a row (just finished that streak 5 min ago) while being a sniper. And I don't nade spam, so it's all rifle and Claymores. I hate those commanders that say that the enemy is getting ready to take a flag and just sit there at another flag right next to it. Also, on normal (not IO) they are good targets for artillery. Should I continue my commanding ways or sit still and get bed sores the whole game?

Meh, I like commanders who kill only when they have to. For example, if no one stops the guy coming with C4, it's time to get your hands dirty! Unless you're backed into a wall, with nowhere to hide, then you should fight. Fo' shizzle.

A commander should do just that, command. When you're fighting, you're more or less not paying atention to your minimap. While it's all cool when a commander fights, I think that's acceptable on small 16 player matches when a commander can help his team AND command troops, it's best to sit in one spot and command on larger matches. Simply because you can pay atention to your troops better, and lay down UAV/Arty/Vehicle/Supplies more effectivley.

And of course a mic helps ALL the time. There's nothing better than a commander being like an eye in the sky and warning squads of incoming threats. This, of course, is VERY rare in large pubs, so good luck finding a commander that does this.

option 1, option 2 is good also but if the commander gets killed while in combat all the time then no use of uav.

Well, it depends. On maps like Dragon Valley, a fighting commander pretty much means you're not getting any UAV help.

But if its something like Sharqui, and people are trying to cap the TV station, I will tell the commander (If he's hiding near there) to get off his arse and do something about it.

Pretty simple.  What ever gives the team the best chance to win.

If there are not too many people on the map then the commander will best serve the team by defending and commanding.  Largers maps (more people) they should be commanding almost exclusively.  Every game is different.  Team makeup is improtant factor.  If you have a bunch of recruits running around, then you are probably better off fighting more as they generally don't follow commands much.  More experienced players are more likely to use what you have to offer more ffectively and therefore you should focus on what they are needing and give them as much support as possible.

Although one of my favorite rounds was when I was commanding while gunning for a good pilot.  We tore them up pretty good.  My pilot would let me know when he had a target to take out, otherwise I commanded.  The team never comlplained at all, because we were winning.  I suppose if we were losing I would of had a mutiny on my hands.

But when they spawn, they use UAV if it's not already running.

Unless someone is blowing up their assets, or they are being baseraped, commanders shouldn't fight. It allows them to pay more attention to the map, and spot any sneaky bastards trying to cap back flags.
Even if the flag the commander is sitting near is being capped, he should just stay there, as when they leave he can just take it back.

The Commander should sit in one spot the whole round, and do nothing else but his job. I took the option without mic.

If it's over 20 players in the server, then a commander who generally hides and provides UAV/spotting and Arty constantly.  Killing the occassional spec ops guy in his base is cool.  Mic or no Mic doesn't matter to me.

Less than 20 he needs to be fighting and commanding as best he can to help the team.  I would prefer he not use the UAV for himself the entire round.  That does get annoying when you on the other side of the map and never get a UAV.

If a commander is fighting, they're not scanning to see if there's 5 enemies hiding behind a wall somewhere while I sneak towards a flag, and that annoys me.

I will command from one spot and not kill anyone on the day that everyone joins squads, squads stay together and squads follow orders. Until then I will have to keep doing everyything myself (except flying), because the job wouldn't get done otherwise.

It may not be the ideal way to command but since nobody listens to orders anyway...

Null vote: depends on the map size and the player load. And on how on-the-ball the enemy are.

If the commander needs to fight (and he can without getting fragged every minute) then he needs to fight. But often he's better off doing his job and only his job.

i like commanders who spot the players in the correct situation when there is no uav, like say u go for a CP on your own and the commander spots the one single geezer whos there, also commanders that dont spot constantly, jesus that pisses off enemy infantry spotted over and over again i sometimes disconnect because it gets on my tits so much, also commanders that replie to requests straight away.

I like commanders who know how to use UAV to make it useful for a team not for themselves only. I like comanders who support tanks and vehicles with supplies rather than infantry (especially those lame snipers somewhere at the end of a map, with 3 kills and running out of ammo).. And finally I like commanders who don't TK me with arty

I like the commanders that sit in the back lines and kill all the sneaky people that try and sneak by because their team is losing. Sucks when they send a whole squad but I can always take a solo guy if the enemy commander doesn't spot me.
