awww, it's hot hot summer and the chipset cooler of this mobo sucks big time . I got it replaced by asus after the original fan broke off and almost fried my mobo. the bad thing is the asus "fixed" cooler is still loud and lacks of cooling power (yea, nForce 4 SLi runs hot). The problem is that the chipset is located right behind the pci-e slot so my vga card's zalman cooler prevents me from installing a zalman heatsink over the chipset. the chipset gets even hotter than my cpu so it is a real problem (chipset idle 43c, load 47-55c. cpu idle 37-40c, load <55c)

Those temps are fine. Chipsets can get up to 120*C.

Move the video card to the other slot... then you should have room for a new cooler.

Maybe try that one.

can't use the second slot with ati vga card and for some reason this board gets unstable when chipset is running at about 60c

well, that would fit in there but they don't sell those here in finland
this pic is not from my pc but u can more clearly see how big the zalman vga cooler is

: right now I have two options. 1st: get a zalman watercooling kit for cpu, vga and mobo + new case
2nd: buy a new rig (I really don't want to upgrade yet because I'll wait about 2 years. i have to go to the army for 9 months after a year so buying a new comp before that would be really a waste of money cuz there would be a lot better hardware for the same price after I get out of army. (can't play when I'm in the army anyways, eh )

You love your Zalman coolers don't you....

What about something like this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu … subcat=399

Perhaps not that, but a similar low profile fan based solution. A Zalman chipset cooler will never fit there because they are all passively cooled, which means big.

hmm, looks good, thx. I remember that I was thinking about getting one of those akasas when the original chipset fan broke off. I might go for zalman reserator xt watercooling kit tho because I'm moving to wc in the future anyways. that way I don't have to buy those zalman heatsinks anymore

i use an evercool vr-ce on my dfi board. it keeps my chipset nice and cool much quieter than the stock fan and those boards a set up worse where my actual vid card goes over the NB fan so clearence for you wouldn't be a prob
