No, when the cops show up, don't wave your hand cannons around. And your edit sucks. Plenty of people were maimed and killed in this particular incident without the benefit of being armed. If someone armed on site had shot the shooter earlier, there may have been less suffering.Masques wrote:

What would you do in such a situation? If you had a gun and were holding it the campus/local police would be likely to shoot you. Besides, "no guns on campus" isn't going to do much for a shooter that ultimately kills him/herself, is it?
EDIT: Not to mention that so many people brandishing weapons and firing in a confused situation is more likely to get innocent people maimed or killed.
I'm staunchly against gun control, but arming school staff is totally stupid. Just what we want to put students in the middle of, a crossfire.
The bottom line is. . . .
There was a TWO HOUR gap between both shootings. . . . .The police had NO suspect after the early morning shootings. Yet the campus wasnt notfied till after 9:30 am???
How do you not close the campus immediately knowing that the gunmen hasnt been apprehended?? Regardless of anything, you have police go around and close all the buildings, and tell people to stay the fuck in their rooms.
The cops said they "presumed" that the gunmen had left the campus and or the state. . . .Guess what guys, your presumption was DEAD WRONG! The fucker was still ON CAMPUS!! Then fucking killed 31 more people!!
I can tell you this with FULL CONFIDENCE, that the University of Viginia Tech will be sued UP THE ASS!! You watch people! The authorities "presumptions" or lack thereof got more kids killed. . . . PERIOD!
Guns are part of our society, bad people with guns kill people, guns dont just jump out of their cases and start murdering people. If anything MORE PEOPLE should be protected!! VTech has a no gun on campus policy!! Maybe if campus police had guns, they could have shot the fucker before he went on his massacre!! Or, if the gunmen knew he went shooting on campus, that armed campus police would challenge him, maybe he wouldnt have shot people in the first goddamn place! Either way, its a sad sad tragic event, and my prayers and thoughts go to the innocents and their families.

There was confusion as to who the shooter was. In a crowd of armed students how are the authorities supposed to know? All they see is another dead body and someone with a weapon. That makes it much harder to discern who is responsible.unnamednewbie13 wrote:

What I said specifically is that more people would likely die in the confusion. If the authorities don't know who the perp is I'm sure a bunch of armed 18 yr olds are going to have a harder time.
I think I agree.fadedsteve wrote:

i find really hard to believe that who ever did this crime wasnt your average lunatic/emo. you dont get 32 kills with handguns without knowing what your doing.
I have to say, that's more the amount you would expect to die in these sorts of incidents. It always strikes me when these things happen that the shooter is really crap (a good thing). That doesn't seem to be the case here.GunSlinger OIF II wrote:

This guy knew what he was doing. . . .
Its not like he was blowing people way with .40 or .45, he was accurately shooting people with a 9mm. He was also crafty enough to purposely shoot himself in the face so the authorities couldnt ID him. . . .sick puppy
32 people dead 1 gunmen= 33 total deaths. . .not including people who might die overnight that are in critical condition

I've said it before and it's worth saying again: Americans have a fucked-up relationship with firearms. It's not the guns. It's not the responsible gun owners. It's the psychotic mythology this entire country is steeped in which leads crazies like this guy to believe they can solve all their problems with a gun and enough bullets.
Of course the authorities did a fantastic job of compounding this tragedy. WTG idiots, send the students right into a meat grinder. Hope their asses get sued into next year.

They will be sued. . . .I have no doubt about that!HunterOfSkulls wrote:

Their "presumptions" were wrong!! They had no one in custody, and contiued to have the campus be open for two more hours. . . .someone fucked up bigtime! and consequently more kids died as a result!
im just shocked that every round this asshole landed seemed to have been a death wound. i mean shit, like a fucking surgeon. most people who get shot dont die. but we have 32 kills in a span of a couple of hours using semi-automatic weapons in a chaotic setting. thats not normal. remember when that neo nazi unloaded a a couple magazines in that all jewish daycare center? not a sould harmed. remember north hollywood. hundreds, if not thousands of rounds spent and the only two dead were the shooters themselves. this is eerie
It does seem like this guy was way too fucking good. Of course we don't know how many rounds he expended vs. how many hits. I can't really contemplate it at this point without feeling sick to my stomach though.GunSlinger OIF II wrote:

first the minimum age to own a handgun is 21. most states require you to be 23 before you can even take the test to carry. so i dont see too many 18 year olds sporting handguns.Masques wrote:

second, if someone needs to pull the weapon they carry to defend themselves they dont just wave it around and hang out pointing it at people until the police show up. it is that persons responsibility to alert the police that they are legally carrying a firearm, and they fired at the suspect. then the police do their thing and take that person to jail.
third, in that type of situation all students are in danger. the police did not know what was happening, so ALL students would have been looked at as potential threats until the situation was resolved. that is basic when it comes to crowds.....watch the videos of columbine....or dont because they really bum you out, but take my word.
fourth and final, i carry a kimber custom carry 1911 .45 everyday of my life. in the event that something horrible would transpire like this while i am around, i have complete faith that i would be able to protect my family and myself from any harm, and it is also a comfort to me.
true, we dont know shit except the body count right now. could be more individuals involved. could have been automatic weapons and fucked up witness accounts, but still. shit man, you dont even get that casualty count in a serious firefight.
Except that you are assuming that he purchased the weapon legally.Parker wrote:

Other than that, good post.
I want a CCW permit, but I am too much of a drunk, and I can't prove my life is/has/was threatened.
Hope you are more responsible than I.
for sure the motherfucker knew his shit. i think its gonna come out that he had some sort of training before this is all over with.HunterOfSkulls wrote:

from what i have read he did all of this with two 9mm autos and 100 rounds. im with gunslinger....the majority of people that get shot with a 9mm survive. hell even head shots leave survivors unless they are in the lone ranger zone.
now heres the next question, were they tactical rounds? that could make one hell of a difference......if he had cor bons hydras or iqs the hydrostatic shock could well have been enough with two rounds to the torso.
we wont know for awhile, but thats some crazy shit to be sure.
Without giving away too much about myself, I used to know a guy that went a bit bonkers some years back and was sniping people in diners and gas stations as cover for a planned murder he wanted to look like a series of random attacks. All his guns were stolen from private owners. Gun safes FTW.KEN-JENNINGS wrote:

What an idiot, I'll never understand human nature.
That is a good possibility, hydra-shoks or maybe even something like Mag-Safe or Glaser rounds. But those are really pricey.Parker wrote:

i was thinking about it and if you combine all the instant kill spots on a human your looking at MAYBE 8 inches all together.......the targets he would have to hit for instant deaths would be on average of 3-4 inches.
that son of a bitch was a marksman.
that son of a bitch was a marksman.
True, a friend who goes there told me how there was a bomb threat on Friday 4/13... They should have put more police around the campus during this week, it was good thing this didn't happen over the weekend because there was an open house at VT for upcoming freshmens.... Imagine if that phucktard shooter took a whole auditorium full of hostagesfadedsteve wrote:

Oh yea btw we didnt take all necessary precautions to prevent the massacre. . . .here is our condolences! What a bunch of bullshit. . . .those kids were sitting ducks cause the campus didnt do enough to protect them, and that is what is even sadder!
Thanks guys, my cousin was in the 7:15 dorm West Ambler Johnston during the shooting. She is completely traumatized. Thanks for your support all.

Apparently there must be periodic sacrifice of innocents to appease the gods so that everyone can have high capacity weapons in America.

Even though events like this give one pause to wonder if it's worth it, our founding fathers understood the needs of people to be able to resist tyranny.
My condolences to the victims.
