In the May 07' issue of GfW, they have a hefty amount of info on the new COH game

It is stand alone, which means you don't need to have the original game to play it, it functions by itself as a full game. They also will add Dx10 support to the game that includes, weather and day cycles to a match.

It will also include two new armies to play along with two separate campaigns to enjoy.

One army is the British Commonwealth (Canada included.) Which has its campaign focused on their involvement in the D-day invasion. The three regiments to choose from are the: Royal Canadian Artillery, Royal Commandos, and the Royal Engineers

The other is the German Panzer Elite division, with a German campaign of Operation: Market Garden.
Their doctrines include the: Scorched Earth, Luftwaffe, and the Tank Hunters(they get to have the Jagdpanther and Tiger II woot!)

The article goes more in depth of how both armies play and more on their units and abilities, but there is just too much to cover, so pick up the magazine and read it yourself!

Man I sure can't wait for this to come out!

Damn, I wanted the CoH expansion to have the Red Army! It could have had T-34s, Red Gaurd, Shock Troopers, and Kukuska Rocket batteries.

They want to finish telling all of the D-day story, then they said that they would move on to the Eastern front. So you're probably going to see the Russians in the next COH.

Hopefully they'll bring in some pathing improvements...but I don't know if I can take any more D-Day anytime soon.

do you reckon they will do a COH for a different era??

i mean with the right form of gfx and hardware i think a nam COH would be pretty cool and rather tactical *thinks back to we were soldiers and hamburger hill*

Never liked COH, froze all the time. Less stable than BF2 1.3.

well anyways the British will be the king of defense, because they can build trenches, mg nests, mortar pits, entrenched AT positions, and all that other good junk.

shit, ive had modern CoH goin through my head ever since the game came out. a modern CoH would be a great mod, with T-90s, M1A1s. SMAWs, Lav-25s. MLRS strikes, JDAM strikes, possibilities are endless.

Then you might probably like that world in conflict game when it is released. There is even a sticky for it too.

However, when people see, or hear the name "D-Day", they imidiately think of Americans landing on Omaha beach. Hell, I don't think there's ever been a game that actually says Canada took part in the invasion. And even more suprising is that there really isn't anything on the British landing on D-Day either...

Well to be fair, due to the greatness of the British & American navy pounding the other beaches into bits, the British and Commonwealth didn't have a problem. The Americans hit the beaches and reefs almost drowning, so there was a ton more of a struggle. That and defenses were able to recover and put up more of a fight than expected. But I am very interested in the expansion pack. It seems like it'll have quite a lot.
Very interested in the British, they seem more my style of digging in, and bombarding the enemy, while still having tank support. It'd be nice if they had a bigger pop cap, but whatever.
I guess they'll have that for CoH2. I agree though, the next CoH will most likely have Russians, but I doubt a Pacific campaign, because the engine is not built for sea battles and aerial combat, while having land missions at the same time. A Pacific campaign with the current CoH engine would be miserable. However, CoH2 or whenever they get back to CoH will most likely have the Pacific fight. I agree, the Japanese and Marines and Army duking it out would be awesome.
I also agree with many people, a Korea CoH (I don't think a single one has been developed) would be awesome, waves of Chinese soldiers, Migs (if aerial combat and building hangars was introduced) Sabres, Panthers, all that would be awesome.
A Vietnam CoH would be a must be, jungle combat, and it'd be cool if the maps were jungle, and the trees would become transparent wherever your troops were. You'd start multiplayer with no base, maybe a carrier, and you'd send A-4  skyhawks to blows away trees and start building a base. Ah the possibilities.
And the helis blowing things away, Hueys (you could customize the Huey, mounting on gatling guns or grenade launchers from the nose, cost would be an issue. You could also choose to mount 4 m60s on the side racks, or one gatling gun, and the tactical strat would be you'd get intensive firepower, but gatlings would jam more, and m60s would have less firepower. And you could upgrade troops with M16s and m60s, or keep the M14s. You could upgrade the Chinnooks/CH-46s with gatlings or M2 Brownings depending, and all sorts of other crazy stuff.
You could upgrade hueys to have either transport capabilities or gunship capabilities. Maps would be huge, forcing you to use helicopters...ah that'd be amazing.
And on the Vietkong side, you'd start with miserable troops, but then you could upgrade your HQ (which could be camo'ed) and get Soviet weaponry, like T-54 tanks, RPGs, AK-47s, RPKs and all that good stuff.
I'm just throwing out ideas to the extreme, but it would be an awesome Vietnam game.

And don't forget mobile machine guns like the 30 Cal Browning Air Cooled!
Used extensively in Vietnam, Korea and Pacific WW2.
