ill be playing and this happens. graphics card is ATI x800xl. 1gb ram, amd64 3500+. if i run some MSN game the same thing happens. new graphics card time?
looks like it. How are your temps? did you install any new drivers recently?
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.
no new drivers. i did a catalyst update a month ago or so. i havent changed and settings. cpu is 30 C up to 43 C depending on game play. im on DVI right now, might try vga.

power supply is antec truepower 2.0 430w. voltages look good. no new hardware except a joy stick (for jets, you know).
If his video card is artifacting then I'm the pope that's not heat/damage for sure.
thats good news. any ideas to try? i dont think uninstall bf2/reinstall will help. think re-installing drivers maybe?
did you over clock it? gpu might just being going to vid card heaven

no OC on anything. i built this pc about 1.5 years ago just for bf2 so i went with what was needed to not need OC'ing
is the ati x1650 pro worth buying? 512 ddr, pci-express. maybe its not the best but comperable?

either a driver problem or your gfx card is fried. Roll back your driver to the one that worked for you. if that doesnt work you need a new gfx card.
How much is thr x1650 going for where u are? and what is your budget for a new card?

budget, no more than $500 i hope. x1650 is going for $200. i can get it a little bit cheaper, ill check tomorrow. i just dont know if its supported by bf2, and if players use/like it.
nice hax lol
Might wanna just take your CPU to your local computer shop before going out to buy a new card. They can probably tell you what's wrong and get it fixed without you having to spend a bunch of money.
If they can't fix it, well at least you can pick up a new GFX card there

With a $ 500 budget dont get a x1650 its not really good :S. Your better off with a 7900gt/gtxsroth140 wrote:

i can get the Radeon X1950 PRO 256MB PCI Express for $150 and the Radeon X1650 Pro 512MB PCI Express for $120. anyone have any suggestions? i can also get the BFG - GeForce 7950 GT OC 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express Graphics Card for $270.
i keep asking because i know you guys are running these different cards and you know how they react with bf2. ive only had the ati x800xl for bf2.
side note, it seems that if i keep the cpu below 45 C and go easy on insane gpu (like flying planes/heli) i can play longer before the dots come back. i got on newegg and got a $5 pci slot gpu cooler. i might order the aftermarket hs/fan for the ati x800 xl and try that before the new card too.
thanks for the input.

What brand is that X800XL anyways. I still use my Asus Extreme X800XL on med-high with AF & AA x4 without any kind of problems at 70-80 fps.
