Wow............someone who has no concept of history..........................what a shock .............................

I am a gun owner. I don't own guns for protection, whats the point. What am I going to do if some nut case pulls a gun on me, get into a wild west gun battle. I don't think so. First I would need to unlock my safe, remove a gun,use a key to unlock the trigger lock, run to the other room unlock my ammo box, remove a magazine and ammunition, load said magazine, insert it into the gun, rack a shell, then watch out I'm ready to do some damage! I have a child so this is how I safely and sanely store my firearms. I compete in matches on a regulated gun range, again, where its safe. I would have no problem with stiffer firearm regulations. longer waits for purchases, registrations, fingerprinting, and extensive background checks. I enjoy the competition. I enjoy the friends I have made shooting and would miss this sport I have loved for so long. I don't have the answers to keep people safe from nutcases using firearms. I also know that it would be stupid to say the majority of gun owners are level headed upstanding members of the community. A middle ground must be reached somewhere in all this. perhaps I am hoping for nothing more than a pipe dream.
