This is what I am building, what I have highlighted is what I already have and am ordering the rest in a week when I get paid again.


Asus M2N- SLI Deluxe Nvidia nForce 570 SLI

AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Windsor 2.6 GHz AM2 Socket (Dual Core)

EVGA GeForce 7950GT 512mb GDDR3 PCI-E x16 HDCP KO Super Clocked Video Card (512-P2-N637-AR)

Soub Blaster SB0570 Audigy SE 7.1 PCI

Crucial 2 GB (2 x 1 GB) (240 pin) DDR2 667 (PC2 5300)

Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD2500 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0 Gb/s

20x DVD +/- Burner w/ 12x DVD-Ram SATA model           (x2)

Rosewill RE502-SLV ATX 12v v2.03 500w Aluminum Power Supply

Just a regular ATX case with window, four fans, two front two back, thinking about doing a fan on the window straight onto the mobo and PCI's.

Because of money restrictions I am not getting the higherend memory which I would like. But I do plan on upgrading to two 2 GB sticks of PC2 8000 in the summer money allowing.

Also why wouldn't you go with the 800mhz ram it is not that much more expensive.

2 Gb of what i am getting for $111 instead of 325 or more for the higher end stuff.  If I get a fat pay check or win on the poker table then I might go up a little more.

Ok so that board rocks, but its also about 30 or 40 dollars more, plus shipping.  And right now, I'm on a budget even though I am spending money out of my ass. 

Here is my biggest memory question could I have two sticks of the ram I am planning to get and then later get two sticks of higher end ram and the higher end run at its speed or would it all go to the lower spec?

Hate to keep advertising this, but it was 229ish a couple weeks ago... now it's 125.  This is DDR2 800 ram, running at 2.2v and 4-4-4-12 timings... it's worth the extra 14 bucks....

started looking at this since i now have to put this on hold until Early summer.   Since I have to wait might as well put a few extra bucks in early may to the higher end ram and finish up in late may with the last of the parts, mobo, drives, etc.

btw car just gave up this week is why i put the hold on, blew a tire yesterday, don't have road hazard warrenty evidently although i remember paying for it, so thats some cash, then the tranny decided to start f*cking with me just now horribly bad so instead of fixing the damn thing for over a grand I am going to get me a road bike (bicycle) for my tri-athlons and daily to and from work/school for $500-800 (entry level bike).
