I need help, my damn Internet Explorer will not accept my change of homepage. It got set to msn.com but I want it changed back to yahoo. Whenever I type the web page into the box telling it what I want the homepage to be, and I click ok, and hit refresh [Edit: I mean home button] it's still msn, it never takes the new page. It's really pissing me off because now videos are being played in the web pages using quicktime instead of opening in Media Player like they have been forever now. Please I need help before I shot this damn thing, and please don't tell me IE sucks I know, I'm not here for your opinions on what browser to use I just need help.

I think  you use Norton Internet Security/Antivirus, no?

I had the same problem, but it had to do with NIS.  Tell me if you use it.

Righto.  Here's the solution.
(DId it last night)
Open Antivirus and then Antivirus options.
Under the "Internet" section on left, click "Home page protection"
Uncheck "Turn home page protection on" and click ok.
Change homepage in IE and check it by clicking home.
Go back to the options and recheck the box.

Done!  For some reason it happens a lot with Yahoo only.

If it's under the programs tab then yes, and it says permit all.

Its sounds like your home page has been hijacked..... http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/programs.php HijackThis: A general homepage hijackers detector and remover. Initially based on the article Hijacked!, but expanded with a lot of other checks against hijacker tricks. It is continually updated to detect and remove new hijacks. It does not target specific programs/URLs, just the methods used by hijackers to force you onto their sites.

Argh.  It's NOT a hijack!
Just follow the instructions - I've been there and fixed it.

I had it where it would open up the Media Player on it's own, sepertaley, not in the Window, I've fixed the problem once, but I've forgotten how I did it.

goto a movie file in explorer, right-click and open with.... choose program..... select media player and tick the check box that says "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file.

You'll have to do this for all different types of media file. Choose folder options to unhide common file extentions to see which are which.
