I never found approaching and spiting out some dumb compliment to be useful.
Here is a good one.
You approach the bar next to her to order a drink and than you step on her foot (not too hard dumbass).
Then you start appologising over and over until she says "its OK" or "its fine". And than you say "no its not fine, let me at least buy you a drink". When she starts laughing just say "I bet you never heard that pick up line before".
Thats enough to break the ice and to separate you from "others"
