I prefer a dead sniper by my knife, but if i have to chose i'll go for the Type 88. Lots of bullets and nice sound. I don't care shit about the accuracy though cause i suck at sniper so i'm not able to feel the difference between the rifles anyway.

That's your play style. I just like killing, regardless of the shot count.David.Podedworny wrote:

Screw accuracy. I'm for kill counts and K/D. I go for running targets all the time.
As for PKM'ers, snipers should never be caught out in the open. Run like hell in open areas. Use sand bags and low walls to full effect. Under cover, prone, stand or crouch to get position of PKM, prone, go zoom, stand, fire, quickly prone back. Wait for kill confirmation or repeat above. Most LMG users don't bother to shuffle when they are spraying.

svd = win
That's what I was getting at as this is not how I play (see vids). Lots of different wrinkles on a basic play style.David.Podedworny wrote:
I meant it as a generalization.... us bolt users wait for the enemy we hunt we stalk them until they stop moving and then we kill them we dont waste ammo.
Nyte's a good example here too: uses the M95 for its guaranteed power against all infantry classes. That plus good aim and fast reflexes = major potential for ownage.
If I see the enemy I'll shoot at them, moving or not... only way to get better at difficult shots is it to try them.David.Podedworny wrote:

And I'll take my kill assists, thanksDrunkFace wrote:

I mean tit when your up real damn high where noone can see you and boom outta nowhere a pkm gunner from 100m kills ya.Ilocano wrote:

When concealed and going up against a squad, I tend to shoot the back ones first. Back one goes down, the ones in front tend to not notice.Todd_Angelo wrote:

Yup. No problem sharing the kill.Todd_Angelo wrote:

All you need is that big ole red name, figure out the center point and elevation and fire single shot with the PKM. The PKM is still a very good single shot infinite ammo sniper weapon. And how do you know he was 100m away?David.Podedworny wrote:

Bolt Action; If you are going to use a semi use another kit.
To each their own.Todd_Angelo wrote:

M95 is good only thing it needs to be is an anti-material rifle like in PR.Todd_Angelo wrote:

Thats what the L85 is for.Todd_Angelo wrote:

Same here. I love it that in bf2 we get credit for damaging an enemy.Todd_Angelo wrote:

M95 Ftw.
I prefer the M14 from PR.
OK, good point.David.Podedworny wrote:

This thread will probably get locked soon as we've seen many similar ones.I use bolt-actions 98% of the time and I'm an urban-map specialist, and a CQB player.David.Podedworny wrote:
Semi users= Masters of City sniping
Regardless of the potential of the semi-autos in the right hands I think the power of the bolt-actions is a significant advantage. So IMO it's all about skill level and playing style, not about map size/type.

AK-101. Full auto sniper.

SVD ftw. If you miss the first shot you have 9 more to take out the guy you missed. I never miss though.

Null vote, neither of them are that useful for clearing, then capturing, flags, but if i feel like sniping anyway, they fill completely different roles and i dont simply prefer one over the other. The bolt actions are what I'd grab for the longest shots, while the semi autos are great close up. They are both plenty accurate, but the long range scope in the bolt actions is better. i would never pick the M95 though. i still want to make a squad of 4 m95 snipers sometime to see if its useful for dispatching attack choppers. but it would be a miserable point enterprise, i can say that. and doing it alone usually doesnt make enough of a difference.
Even tho its been ages since i last played bf2 (around 4 months, missin me?) i have to go with bolt action. SVD's are good, but try getting consistant headshots over 150 metres with one. Bolt actions have such reliable accuracy, and power, i'd always pick one.

I think it all depends on what you are going for in terms of accuracy, if you don't care about missing 9 shots but hitting and killing with that last 1, then you would go for semi-auto
but if you are about taking the time to land headshot after headshot, then you'd prefer bolt-action
i prefer the bolt-action, but i will use the Type 88. I hate the SVD with a passion
