I am new to flying helicoptors and when you switch from tv missile view to just regular view where you can shoot the machine gun, is there a way to get rid of the outline of the helicoptor without having to press C everytime? Or is this just hardwired into the game and no way to change it? Thanks.
You have to keep pressing C im afraid mate.
Nope, unfortunately it's stuck that way. Though I think someone had edited a file to make it so the console is gone permanently. I'll see if I can dig it up.

Once you get used to doing it, it becomes a natural, very easy thing to do.
I have one of the side buttons on my mouse mapped to F10. After coming out of TV view, I just bump it with my thumb. Easy.

although messing with key bindings is quite useful, during 1.3 I used my mousewheel for prone/crouch
