Back when the Wake Island map came with the 1.03 patch I thought that the map looke really nice.
So when I got the game later in September 2006 I played on Wake a lot.
Being a noobie and not knowing about the J10 got me my first Purple Heart.
I think I got 2 or 3 later, but only when I had really bad days.

On topic, I got mine on Songhua Stalemate. I was a complete nub at the time, and when I saw the requirements for the purple heart as opposed to the rest, I was like "Ohhh! I can get that!." So I took a jeep and drove it into the water 20 times .

I got mine on Wake i remember being stood on the hill opposite the beach and being killed by an AH whore
i got mine on mashtuur when i realised i needed 3 more deaths and hte round was almost over and i suicided for it, i didnt know what was going on.

I got mine before I knew about BF2s, so I didn't know the requirements for any of the medals.
Karkand + vehicals + artillery baserape + n00b who thinks the MP5 is a good gun = purple heart.

Got most of my purple hearts on Karkand on the BF2s Eu server being a dedicated medic and a teamplayer, not sure but have prolly got it 5 or 6 times in total and all related to teamplay !

Ghost Town and i stopped at 5 frags and started pressing suicide and thrging naedes under my feet i also danced and jumped in fron of enemy armor !

I have 3 and only the first was due to my 'noobness', the others where calculated decisions on how I would play that round. (I didn't go out expecting or wanting the purple heart, but sometimes you just have to sacrifice yourself for the good of the team).
Depending on circumstance the Purple heart is not that bad of a medal. Given, that if your receive it going for kills then things can't be good, but sometimes theres more important things to do in order to win the round.
- Operation Clean Sweep: Our team stuck in 1 flag... they also had our bomber (not fun at all)
- Karkand: Medic whore, probably the only one on our team, 40-50 revives (Also got the gold medal and won the round).
- Gulf of Oman: Very late at night with only 15 or so people on the server. Spent the entire game just trying to keep our side from being capped back to the uncap. They also had a fairly good chopper crew while my team had trouble taking off let alone flying and shooting. Ended with about 15 flag caps and won the round with ticket bleed by 15 tickets. One of the hardest games I have ever played, yet almost single handedly won the round. Also got the gold by 2 points over the chopper gunner on the other team who had 50+ kills.

karkand, i got it 12 days after i bought the game
i got one on purpose. i was bored one day and felt like hearing that little drum roll that happens when u get an award, so i went onto warlord, killed 5 people, and jumped off a building the rest of the time.
