Hi,

I updated to 1.41 and installed punkbuster. I can connect to a couple of servers with no problem at all. But if I want to connect to this specific server 196.4.79.31:16567 (south African server) it says:

You have failed to connect. please check your network settings.

WHY??? I can connect to the other South african servers, but not this one why?? My friends are playing on that on thats why i want to join that server. this is frustating! thanx 4 yer help mates.

Are you sure you got the IP address exact?
One number wrong and you won't connect.
The server could also be down.

Sometimes you just have to keep trying. If it still doesn't work then you have too bad of a connection for it.

where can i get the latest punk buster update,, wont it be that?

i double click on the server, so i know the ip is right. but i have fast connection? i dont understand.. il just keep trying. anything else i can try????

#1. Location - Too far or something.

#2. Connection - You could have too slow of a connection.

#3. Porblems - Some things couldn't be hooked up right.

Updating your punkbuster

How does this work?

Instead of Battlefield 2 manually and time consumingly trying to do it in game, quickly do it with this easy fix (may not work if its already updated). This tweak will work for america's army and also any other game that uses punkbuster. Punkbuster also changes issues in performance in their patches so it is well worth downloading the latest driver.

How do you do it?

Step 1: http://www.punkbuster.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php visit this site and scroll down to the pbsetup.exe link

Step 2: Either run or save the program

Step 3: Click add game and select "Battlefield 2" (and any other games you have on the list)

Step 4: Click Update

If you can connect to other ranked servers, it's not a Punkbuster problem.

Try the old standbys of restarting your computer and your modem and giving it another go.  If it's still not working for that particular server, see if you can check that the server is working okay using GameMonitor or someone like that.  If the server seems to be alright, and you still can't connect to only that one, then you may just have to give up and try again tomorrow.
