I think it will be cool.

- Would you like to have a bayonet in BF2 instead of a knive?
no. doesn't fit. this is 21st century warfare!
but the bayonet in bf1918 kicked ass!

Good Idea ! you should be able to double click on knife ( like when you change a Rifle from Semi to Auto ) and it should take 2 or 3 seconds to Afix it to the rifle.
16th or 21st century warfare, some times its two guys in the mud.

Yes I think it would be pretty cool to have since the M16 does come with a bayonet lug for attaching one. I don't know but I bet they are still issued in battle. I don't know my guns well enough but I bet many AK's are also capable of accepting a bayonet. I think it should only be for the Assault Kit or kits with guns that accept a bayonet.
It's only one kit that could need it, sniper. But having one on the sniper rifles wouldn't be stupid... anyways, it won't happen.
Used to have them in SOF2 on the AK (not the M16 though). Hell, you could even bludgeon people with the back of your shotgun and pistol whip people. Oh, and throw knifes. All used to be awesome fun The ultimate humiliation in a clan war
Would be nice to see a bludgeon and a pistol whip option in BF2 *cough* mods *cough*

Snipers should have them.
On Ak guns from spetz or mec sf or mec would be nice as a 2nd function.
I also would love to see this as a new "nade" at the insurgents and rebels !

Actually the bayonet that comes issued with the AK47 in reality is also an extremely useful wire cutter and can opener.JG1567JG wrote:

Oddly enough, in reality the SVD also comes issued with a bayonet.
I loved the bayonet that they had in BF1942- Road to Rome. I would just set the game on easy difficulty and charge the computer players to stab 'em. I sure wouldn't mind it BF2, but it seems too late for that but hey--- EA added the DP and M1 Garand to '42 after it was released.
No, the last issued Bayonet Charge was (I think) in the 1980s.
But they should keep the knife, and add a melee attack for each gun.

I think it would be cool. For the first week I played BF2, I scoured the User Guide to see what button I could press to slide the knife onto my AK barrel. I was incredibly disheartened when I couldn't find it.
Like the Engineer bayonet in 1942 RoadToRome?! would be a little outdated don't you think ?
Your thoughts, insights, and musings on this matter intrigue me
Agreed, modern day warfare doesn't really have a place for bayonets especially on the M16, but the AK should as they are commonly still fitted with them.cl4u53w1t2 wrote:

On a side note did you know there were over 1/2 Billion AK's is various variants manufactured.
Just because the last time it was ordered was in the 80's doesn't mean they still aren't issued to troops.Undetected_Killer wrote:

As far as I know, bayonet's are still standard issue for troops carrying the M16.
I would probably say that bayonets is a bad idea, since they tried it in mohpa and people who used the arisake single shot ruled the game. You get close to them right click and they are dead instantly, it gets really annoying so i would say its a bad idea.
BF1942: road to rome had them
Look familiar? Apparently, the standard issue knife of the US Army today was originally designed as a bayonet.

I think that in most armies the issued knife fits on the standard issued rifle of the respecting army.
Knives? Why not just get a Lancer from GOW, CHAINSAW BAYONETS!
... and we could have swing music
sure.
