Perhaps an 'idiot' isn't the correct translation, 'simpleton' should suite it better. Whatever Bush his IQ is, to me he doesn't have the 'appearance' of being intelligent.

But whatever I might find of Bush, he is not my national leader he is yours. Mine (Verofstadt) looks like a simpleton but is supposedly an intelligent fellow.

Anyway, I don't know either personally thus it is mighty obvious that I am basing myself upon appearances
If I did know them personally, it might not be within my capacities to grasp what intelligence is.
