Everyone needs to learn how to solo. You can never depend on your gunners, simple as that. Well, in a pub server.
Learn to use your missiles as a pilot = win. Learn to hit targets with a tv missile = win.
Learn to compensate for bullet travel with the chaingun = win.

Put geometry on high, not on low. And about flying, just fly much, u will learn automaticly, u dont need tips...

And the circle of death, is more than possible in SF, it is required to call yourself a pilot..
But I have one better- The Hind
It can maneuver in what I like to call the "Tornado of Souls"- whereas you can simply go 80% vertical and spin like a tornado, which turns the most inaccurate rockets in the game into a maelstrom of base raping goodness.
