Hello,

I can download files of like www.fileshack.com and stuff at say 400 kb/s...

But torrents are going at about 10 kb/s... lots of seeds too (thousands)

Legal torrents guys remember!

I have BT, and my dad on BT also gets this... is BT blocking torrents?

and if so anyway round it?

utorrent... when i got BT... abou a month ago, was getting 350 kb/s...

It could just be the torrent. Try downloading stuff from www.microsoft.com to see what you get there. You should be getting in excess of 400kb/s.

can be a number of things with torrents, blocked ports, lack of seeds,ISP P2P throttling, Peak times ... the list goes on!

Blocked ports - Maybe
Lack of seeds - NO!
Peak times - Maybe yes

have you tried looking on your ISP's forums fusion? see if others have the same problem and if they do your ISP may be throttling your P2P peak time speeds

(To see what port it is using, start uTorrent, Options, Preferences, Connection)

Try setting it to port 80/ a port you know you have open

6881 is the default port for BitTorrent I think. Make sure uTorrent uses it, and make sure your router has it set to forward data from that port to your compy.

Depends which router you have got

Look for Ports/ Firewall Rules/ Port Forwarding etc.

don't forget to force the dwl... right click on the dwl and you click on it (dont remember a 100% what they call it) and i use to dwl my torrents with bitlord/bittorrents but it was damn slow... i use azureus now and i think its faster....
