Hey. My current psu is an Antec Smartpower 500w ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6817103937 ). I will be upgrading to an 8800gtx in a month or so when the prices drop. I contacted nVidia and they said this psu would work fine with the 8800gtx, but I wanted to get others' opinions. I know my current psu just meets the requirements, which makes me a little uneasy about putting the 8800 on it. However, I don't want to spend the money to upgrade my psu unless I really need to. If I do need to upgrade, I was considering the OCZ EvoStream 720w ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6817341005 ). I'm a neat freak so I need the modular cabling. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.
Erm this is the Junk Drawer, you may want tech...

Yes. Antec's SmartPower have a high failure rate. As high as 20% by some reports. I had a 350w die after 2 years, replaced it with a 500w, then when I found out about them going bad I replaced that one with a Corsair.
Strange, if nVidia says it will work, at least give it a try!
Try it with the 500w PSU. If there's not enough power, it'll shut down but it won't do any harm.
