Surprised this hasn't been posted yet (apologies if it has - I did do a quick search on 'Tillman')...

US army 'exploited Tillman death'

The brother of former American football star Pat Tillman, killed by friendly fire in Afghanistan, has accused the US military of manipulating his death.

Kevin Tillman said that by claiming Cpl Tillman had died fighting the enemy in 2004, the army had tried to "hijack his virtue and his legacy".

A very sad death.
In the rush to create a hero story, they ended up looking like asses.

He really is a hero, selflessly turning down fame and money for his country.

That was all they had to do, tell his story, blue on blue death or not, he was a natural born hero.

A relevant quote:

'Richard Baxton piloted his Recon Rover into a fungal vortex and held off four waves of mind worms, saving an entire colony.
We immediately purchased his identity manifests and repackaged him into the Recon Rover Rick character with a multi-tiered media campaign: televids, touchbooks, holos, psi-tours--the works.
People need heroes. They don't need to know how he died clawing his eyes out, screaming for mercy. The real story would just hurt sales, and dampen the spirits of our customers.'

From The Wilderness published an in-depth seven part series on Tillman's murder a long time ago and it sheds light on the motive behind this deliberate friendly fire death. Pat Tillman was becoming more and more a critic of the war on terror. He was planning on coming home to the States after his tour of duty and exposing what he saw as an Army Ranger. I won't paraphrase what he thought, if you're interested read it yourself it is very interesting and shows quite conclusively that this was no accident. The thought of Tillman, the stereotypical American hero, coming home and criticizing the war terrified the top Pentagon brass and it is quite clear the order to assassinate him came from high up within the Army ranks. Read the whole thing I dare you.

I see. And do you often make up your mind without actually examining the evidence? How very American of you.

i clicked on your silly link, and you know what, after i was done laughing my ass off about "Watergate II" i decided that might not be the best website to get information from. more power to you as you are obviously one of those people that wants to find the "secret" things about the US government. i bet it makes you feel really informed also right?

well there is one problem with all of that. as much as the news in this country hates the administration and is ever so eager to show the "troop death count", i have faith that they wouldnt even hesitate to blow this story WIDE open.....hell CBS hates this administration so much one of their reporters MADE UP a story, so i dont think there would be much to stop them from doing the same here......unless.......they didnt find the source credible......hmmmmm

there was a great article in SI about him a while back.  i heard they were going to follow him around in bootcamp with cameras, but he said he wouldn't join if they did - what a warrior.

yeah I guess the congressmen and intelligence community officials who read From The Wilderness daily and the other 30,000 subscribers are all kooks too huh? And you in Missouri, you've got all the answers. Seriously, research what you are ridiculing before you ridicule it.
