^^ something for intel fan boys too

hl2 lost coast:

Intel Core 2 Quad Extreme 6800      153fps
Intel Penryn dual core 3,33Ghz        210fps
Intel Penryn quad core 3,33Ghz       210fps

edit:
*to make a note: HL is always CPU bound with decent graphics cards and cpu performance can be tested with low resolutions too. It doesn't matter that you get fps like 200 in a bench. even i get fps over 100 in that game. But that is 25% increase in PURE GAMING SPEED from 153 to 210!*

pretty good.  the c2ds has been on the shelves for about 8 months and they are already about to unleash the new penryn cpus in a couple of years.

Its only for 1024x768 resolution. I really doubt anyone to blow so much money on a system with that processor will never do below 1600x1200 resolution. So those bench marks are invalid.

no....because you can compare them to other procs....and processors has more to do with physics then graphics fyi....which dont rely on resolution.

and btw...thats beast...

Increased pixels per square cm means more processing power and needing more memory resulting in less FPS and increased temp.

Lost Coast is easy to get good FPS on high settings. Try it on a more demanding game, then gimme the results.

I still get good FPS with all high settings, HDR lighting and physics, even though I have a 7600GS and an e6400 at 2.13Ghz, rated at both cores 3.2 Ghz.  Lost coast only detects (and uses) one core, and so it recommended that I didn't run the game.  Nevertheless, I was stubborn, and it ran just fine for me.

What you're saying applies for graphics cards but not for processors. The physics are there, they have to be calculated and THEN they are handed over to the gpu to draw them. So on lower resolutions, games are generally more bound to processors.
