I'd say you were clinically retarded.
Notice the time at which his post was added and the time of the "edit" of the OP.
Way to go genius.

I'd say it's enough to have called him "clincally retarded" 7x now. Let's try and not derail the thread shall we?

Night Maps seem to take more than other maps first of all, that could be one minor factor in your drop in FPS. I'm also pretty sure that despite the numbers (i.e. Geforce 7600 and Geforce 7600 Go) being the same, the laptop and desktop counterparts are not equal in power. Laptop GPUs are generally a little weaker than the desktop "equivalent." With that said, I think lowering the settings a tad might improve your FPS.

Good luck.

Some people say that in vanilla BF2 it's easier to see snipers etc with low graphics settings (due to pixelation). I've never really tried it, but I think night maps would be OK if you turn your graphics settings down a bit. Anyway, I don't know what your settings are (maybe you could post them), but the point is, if you put your settings on low do you get the same FPS? Obviously it's better to sacrifice detail for a half-decent FPS.

On another note to do with the "are laptops any good for gaming" debate, well we all know that heat has a lot to do with performance, and heat is the reason why laptops use a slower clock speed, so laptops aren't the best choice for gaming compared to desktops (everyone knew that, but some people like to argue for the sake of it). That doesn't mean you can't play games on laptops, and TBH I knida like the idea of playing BF2 where you can look out over a waterfall or something while you wait to re-spawn... now that's a holiday resort

A little?

You seem to have the words "a little" confused with "a lot".

I think the OP must have fried his laptop or something, as he hasn't replied. =\
