So I was bored and listening to music, and I was thinking about what the best song intros are.
Here's what I came up with:

10. April 29, 1992 (Miami) - Sublime
9. Fly Like and Eagle - Steve Miller Band
8. Boy in the Bubble - Paul Simon
7. Johnny Come Home - Fine Young Cannibals
6. Savanna Dance - Deep Forest                <--------- +1 if you've EVER heard this song!
5. Still Dre - Dr. Dre
4. The Golden Horn - Dave Brubeck
3.  Magic Carpet Ride - Steppenwolf
2. Baker Street - Gerry Rafferty
          and...
1. Voodoo Child (Slight Return) - Stevie Ray Vaughan     (I know Jimi did it but Stevie added his touch that was AWESOME!

What are your favorites?

P.S. If anyone knows a website or something where I can upload music to give you guys a preview of these songs it would be much appreciated (in the form of karma!)

You can upload the songs to youtube/putfile. It will just show a black screen and play the music back.

Agree with #1 100%

My vote for #2 is the Van Halen cover of "You Really Got Me" by the Kinks. That guitar solo is fucking awsome.

Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath. Thunderstorm noises!

Savatage - Memory (Dead Winter Dead intro). The entire track is an intro for the next one. Brief bit of Ode To Joy on a guitar.

DragonForce - Operation Ground and Pound. Guitar twiddling, half-tone-seperated dual power chord, then it launches into the track full-force.

More later.

you just reminded me of that so I must listen to it now. mmmmmmm fuckin awesome!

When I saw Foreigner live back in November I thought their intro to Juke Box Hero was the best I've ever heard. I'll vote for that as number one. Too bad it's not recorded though

Fear the Reaper - Blue Oyster Cult
Because, frankly, there is no other intro's worth mentioning.

Rock Lobster - The B-52s

No one, but NO ONE owns (the late) Ricky Wilson. Well, someone does, but that Star Trek suit from the music video won me over.

More:

Fear Factory - Securitron (police state 2000). Faux police report, with the immortal line of 'man, bleeding profusely from the head'.

Queen - Gimme The Prize (Kurgan's Theme). 'An incident at the stadium this evening left the sprinklers running, and a man's headless body lying on the floor next to his own severed head. A head which, at this time, has no name.' "I know his name..." Obviously the Kurgan hasn't got the idea that you don't talk back to the TV yet.

Judas Priest - Revolution. Distant chord. 'YEAAHHHH!', then kicks into the riff.

Savatage - This Isn't What We Meant. Plonky piano section, vocal intro, then power chords.

Arch Enemy - We Will Rise. Badass because there IS no intro, it just kicks straight into the wall of high-speed guitar.

Static-X - Black And White. Kinda tinny guitar bit, then the guitar kicks in properly with bass and drums for a few bars, before the lyrics.

ZZ Top - Legs. Just love the way they get the guitar riff so close to the sound of a large-displacement V-twin. (Of course, not as bassy, but still very similar.)

How about some more?

Cochise- Audioslave  The "helicopter" effect Tom Morrello uses is very cool and the bass and drums come in and the music just builds up till the verse.

The Clincher-Chevelle   Some of their older stuff with their older bassist Joe (also the brother of both Pete and Sam), you have to listen to it. It has a sick intro.

Welcome Home-Coheed & Cambria  Its got the cool classical guitar intro then the distorted and slap bass but unfortunately it is ruined once the vocals come in.

All My Life-Foo Fighters It is just the same guitar part with Dave's vocals, it builds up energy and lets it all go.

The Wolf Is Loose-Mastodon The sweet drum intro and then it is crazy after that, it has so much energy.
