I'm all for some kind of hidden message tags - and I'm pretty sure BBcode allows you to do that. On my clan forums (which use phpBB, not punBB. I hope they're similar) you can "hide" content. How: By putting the content you want to hide in the tags, it replaces the content with a button saying 'click to view hidden content'. That way it's up to you whether to view it or not.
The paradox is only a conflict between reality and your feeling what reality ought to be.

So, this is the way bf2s is going is it?

Two people, one of whom just happens to have a lot of karma, complain about a post and said post gets removed.

Despite the fact that a larger number of users didn't find it offensive and it has prompted nearly 90posts of, mostly, debate and serious talk.

From someone who wears a black ribbon for the VT massacre you're awfully hypocritical if you argue in favour of watching people suffering on YouTube. The video was posted for what reason? There was no writing with it, it was just "watch this and comment".

Look, I'm all for freedom of speech and whatever, but one has to take people's feelings into account. Posting a violent video as debate fodder with no explanation isn't good enough in my opinion to put above the feelings of someone who is experiencing the events in that video at the moment. It's not right. Who are we to put a debate, (which I might add, has been done to death,) above a person. It's insensitive and stupid.

And for any of you who haven't caught on it was me who removed it. Feel free to drop me a PM.

Yknow, while I feel that graphic content shouldn't be posted here, I think we need to remember something.

Every time a new medium of expression is created, it pushes the boundaries of what society deems acceptable.

With television we saw a rise in graphic content, which showed that generation a new level of reality they wouldn't have seen otherwise. Why do you think war is so unpopular, it is in part, television's fault. Television shows the people the true horror of war in a way that is very engrossing.

Now, fast forward. The Internet, an explosive forum of unrestricted media, we've seen more graphic stuff on the internet than television could ever show us. We've seen people killed on the internet for the love of god. This freedom is a double edge sword. It may be desensitizing and hard to watch. However, it also brings us to a new level of understand in our world, and I am of the opinion that greater knowledge of the world cannot be a bad thing.

1. I agree that the OP could have been better presented. Some detail about what was in the video would have been a good idea - you could have added such information instead of deleting the video.

2. I watched the video before you deleted it and I'd seen most of it before on TV news programs. In fact I've seen worse on TV news programs.

3. I think this sets a dangerous precedent.

What? Considering the feelings of one or more people above a debate which has time and time again been addressed? How is that a dangerous precedent? Look, this has nothing to do with censorship or free speech, it is simply about putting the feelings of someone who is experiencing what the video displays above an overdone debate on an Internet forum. That's all.

The dangerous precedent is this - two people shout about something, more people express an opposing opinion, a mod sides with the two people.

And that is all about free speech and censorship. Why should a vocal minority be allowed forced censorship of the majority?

Because the vocal minority actually mean more to the issue than the majority. BF2s.com is not a democracy, the majority does not rule. The vocal minority were the party who were effected negativly by this. If you try and argue that the majority has suffered because of the removal of the video I'm afraid I have to disagree. What the majority missed out on was the continuation of a debate that has been done many times before, and will be done many more times in the future. I fail to see why this video removal matters so much as to draw out this debate any longer. However as you may want to discuss this with me further feel free to PM me.
