Will China now have it's " War for oil?"
I'd say that if they legally were working that site they should send in their paratroopers to deal with the terrorist.

Witnesses said dozens of rebel gunmen crept up to the facility around dawn and unleashed an intense barrage of machine-gun fire at Ethiopian soldiers posted outside. After a fierce hourlong battle, the rebels rushed away, taking with them seven Chinese hostages and a number of Ethiopians.

I don't see China starting a "war" against these rebels. But I do think they should send in some special forces troops to teach these rebels a lesson. And also to say "don't fuck with us". Because, honestly who would want to face the massive Chinese army. Silly rebels.

China will send a small protection force for the facility
Two infantry regiments and a tank battalion, maybe one or two helo squadrons. Not that many
But I agree with Superior, they should send in SpecOps and kung fu their asses or something. This ain't meant to be offensive to any Chinese or Asian people.

What international court has sway over lawless criminals? Are they going to dispatch troops to deal with them?
Of course not.
China will have to deal with it as the international community will do nothing.
Just like the Middle East.

They should certainly at least seek international approval before taking any action against a sovereign nation. They should get that approval since such action seems quite justifiable and I can't think of anyone on the security council who are likely to want to veto such a proposal. When none of the security council have any real interests involved then the UN often works ok.

Taking unilateral military action is very, very rarely a good idea.

- I'm not saying China should ask the UN to do something about it. Just that they should seek approval to do something about it themselves.

If some wacko kills 70 Toyota workers at Kentucky it would be OK for Japan to send their special forces there.  After all it's their property.
