Okay, I currently have a peugeot 306, with a 3030 radio model (not sure of the make, but its a stock component). I just got some new speakers, they go loud but because the head unit isn't  too hot, they don't fulfill their potential. Does anyone know if this head unit is compatible with an amp, and also how I can actually take it out to access the back. I've searched google and read the car manual, but no help

I'm not familiar with those cars, but I do know a thing or two about car stereos.  What you need to look for are preamp outputs.  They're just RCA wires at the back of the headunit; this is what brings the signal to the amplifier.  They'll be red and white, for left and right channels respectively.  If you're headunit doesnt have those, you may be able to pick up an adapter that can connect your amp to the antenna cable, or even to the direct speaker outputs.  I wouldnt recommend either of those two options because of degradation of the signal. You may beed to invest in an inexpensive aftermarket headunit that has high voltage preamps.

they make a converter thats has pre-outs on it that hooks on to the spreaker wire coming of the factory installed head unit(cd/mp3 whatever you got). i had to use one on in my finacces SUV. its called an adjustable line out converter. not sure how much you know bout car audio but with the instruction should be about an hour job with remove head unit and replacing it.

something like this should be fine...

heres one on ebay for 4 bucks and ive atleast heard of this maker..

the hard part is the amp hook up.after you installed line out converter you going to have to install the amp in the trunk( my fav location is back of rear passager seats)you need rca power and a remote wire ran to the amp power is ran from car battery and needs a fuse just off the battery post.remote wire runs from head unit to amp and a ground from the amp to the cars unibody(just lift the carpet and use a sheet metal screw to attach the ground.(get and amp installtion kit to fit the wattage amp your using will include all t he wire need for this set up.).now yougotta run the outputs off the amp back to the head unitand connect to the speakers you were using before you installed the line out converter.

removeing all inteior trim panels and complete installion would take myself a good half a day (5-6+ hours). theres alot more to it but this is a way to keep you factory head unit (aftermarket just never fit as nice or match up the same soo this kit the console dash area clean looking.

No peugeot options

Although I have found a site that tells me gow to remove it now. If I want a decent amp output though, I'll need a new head unit and I'll need wire adapters and a facia kit.

Which means with £70 for a 1500W amp, £25 for a wiring kit and another £20 for the facia and wire adapters, and £43 for the head unit, I'm getting near to the value of my car!

I think that sucks slightly more.

I was thinking of getting this head unit, but I'm slightly confused about the specs. Does it mean it can connect to MP3 players or just play MP3 cd's?
