Vent problems when in CS:S.

I seem to have a problem, whenever I join a game in counter strike source my vent ceases to work. That is, I can't talk at all but I can still hear everyone. It doesn't happen in any other games I have found and can be fixed by testing the hardware in the control panel > sounds and audio devices, but that only works for a few minutes.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The mic I use is a PC160SK gaming headset.

Is CS:S 'stealing' your mic?

Try turning of ingame voip and see what happens.

Already have, unfortunately it didn't work either.

are you using Vista by any chance?

If you are, then you need to set Vent and CSS to run in Compatability mode for XP, and "Run as Administrator" (by right clicking on the shortcuts, and selecting properties)
