Ok having tried several free trials, Ulead, premier, pinnacle and some others, I have narrowed it down to 2;
1. Roxio Easy Media Creator 9 Suite
2. CyberLink PowerDirector 6

I have been using sony vegas studio for my current youtube videos......however this program simply doesn't have the output formats I require anymore.

So which on is better, or do you think another is better?

As a video editor, i choose vegas

Why?

Well some people dont know it, but you can do so much things with vegas, its unbelievable.
And what formats are you looking for? Exactly, there are lots of formats you can choose from, wmv. DivX, Xvid and whatever else you have installed

Another good program is After Effects, its an expensive program, but very good to use, you can do lots of compositing in there, such as green screen keying, text effects, and much much more. Whatever comes to mind

If you keep trying programs like every 2 something weeks, you're not going to get the best results

i have been using vegas for more than a year, i love it, and its just easy to use once you master it.

Just try to stick to one program, and explore it.

I haven't a problem with vegas itself. Once you get the hang of it it is better than all the other software suites put together. However Vegas doesn't support MPEG4 divx and some other formats I want to use.

It's time to upgrade, but I don't want to spend tons of money. I don't need professional software.

These 2 have most of the things I need.

well, id say neither and to go with premiere. combined with after effects, there is no better editor on the market. ive used um for a few years now and nothing else comes close (and ive tried several others).

What version do you have?

I have encoded with MPEG4 before, and it worked fine

And yea if you are just making videos for bf2, fun and such, i woulnt recommend spending money,

See i make podcasts for money, and its essential for me to have my programs legal

I have vegas movie studio platinum edition.

Adobe after effects is like $1000 without including your original premier software. I wouldn't use 90% of the features because I don't need them.
