Give 3DMark a go - it pushes the video card harder than any current game will.Rampage74 wrote:

If it completes the 3dMArk benchmarks without crashing, then download Sandra and run a 'burn-in test' - this will give all your other components a good workout...
ok ill give it a shot
but what will the tests prove?

Whether it's a hardware issue or not - if 3DMark locks up. It's most probably the video card. If Sandra locks up then you can use it test individual components to find out which one is causing the problem. If neither lock up then, I'm afraid it's back to square one again. At this point the only thing to do is to start replacing each component of your system one piece at a time until you find the culprit (it helps to have a friend/relative with a similar PC that can lend you parts for this process - you said your dads computer works fine, yes? how does the spec of his computer compare to yours?)...Rampage74 wrote:

have you had this problem too?
has any one else had this problem?
I had a similar problem last month - not sure if it's related, but BF2 just crapped out on me. When I finally ran the DirectX tests, I found that my video card had crapped out - would lock up running 3D tests, and would insta-boot on DirectDraw tests (Running a GT6600).
Had to RMA the video card - the replacement runs as expected (I was going to say it ran fine, but its only a 6600).
To run the Directx tests yourself, just type DXDIAG in the Run command in windows - the rest explains itself.

This same thing happened to me when i replaced my modem with a router, the solution was to change the MTU size, i had to lower it to 1400. May be something along those lines, depending on your setup.
Well, mine's started doing it just recently - likewise, video card handles everything else just fine - it's just bf2 that makes it crap-out - the more I've got in backgound the more likely it is to crash, other than that I think it's just bf2...Rampage74 wrote:

did you guys have this exact problem?
Yes, once or twice, it's stopped doing it again now - no idea why it did it, no idea why it doesn't do it now. Sorry.Rampage74 wrote:
