any tips
make a joke, unless it is an occasion that it would be distasteful.
other than that, dont freak out. look like you know what you are doing, even if you dont.

Don't wave your hands around but don't have them in your pockets either.
If you catch yourself at a loss of words, abandon the topic and quickly move on to the next.
Keep it fluid.
Pretend you are talking to you friends about something really important.

Usually will turn well as long as you are confident what you speaking about.
do not say "uuhm" or "ehmm" between words/sentences.
i gotta fill up 3 minutes on a personal subject. i hate make my personal life public though and i dont have that good of an imagination.
What is the subject? who are you giving it to? I did my first 5 minute speech in front of about 500 people when I was 12, although it was an easy subject (Smoking) I found it easy anyway.
Most obvious tip, make the writing bold so its easier to see, don't READ it off the page 100%, get some small speech cards and put the bullet points to remind you, you will look more professional and more relaxed, make eye contact also.
+ Practice practice practice, not so much that you know it off by heart but enough to use small cards so you don't need to read off them looking like an idiot.
Edit: make sure to seem like the subject you are talking about is very important
Just read your post.. if the speech is on a personal subject then I suggest something that actually means alot to you, if it means alot to you, it will be easier to add emotion to the speech/easier to write.
Good luck

i majored in public speaking. The first thing they teach you isthat youve got to be true to yourself. The great speakers thoughout history were not joke tellers, they were people of passion so if you want to do well youve got to do what they did. Youve got to wave your arms and youve got to pound your fists many times to emphasize your point.

Hey man, i know something about speaking publicaly, and trust me, its hard. But if you want to really impress your crown, then be sure to be cool about what your saying. Use A LOT of enthusiasm, this will be sure to keep your crowd entertained. Whatever you do, DONT use 1 tone of voice the whole presentation. I cant stress enthusiasm enough, its the key to success my friend.
Other then that, be sure you know what your going to say. Also, if you using lots of enthusiasm then your crowd wont mind it as much if you need to take a second to read your paper.

15 more years! 15 more years!
i cant stand being put under the magnifying glass. but that last speech i did last week went pretty smooth.
Do not turn or give your back to the audience.
Have handy a cue card of the main topics of your speech, but not the whole enchilada.
Speak clearly, no shouting is allowed.
If your speech is to a little group of people try to see above their heads, not to their eyes because you'll get nervous.
Don't hold your hands at your back and in your pockets.
Don't shut yourself for long periods, instead try to make questions about your topic and give some 3 or 4 seconds for the audience to think about your question.
Rehearse your speech in front of your parents and brothers or friends and tell them what do they think of your speech, that will get you confident and some constructive criticism.
If you see that your audience is getting bored try to raise your voice just a little for 2 or 3 seconds for them to wake up and realize that they are attending a speech.
I dunno what else to suggest you because I usually don't get nervous at my speeches in the Uni. Also, drink water before your speech and keep a bottle near you, the throat tends to dry when one is nervous. The best of luck to you .
