While it is true that we've managed to kill many terrorists in our time in Iraq, we could be killing far more of them in Afghanistan, if we stopped wasting so much effort on Iraq.

I was referring to the troops, not Al-quada. As for Al-quada I think it more like:

The ends justify the means.

Perhaps this poem may help realize my point:

They will use their own children
to get past checkpoints
and then blow them up.

They kill innocents,
women and children
like swatting knats off your arm on a warm summers eve.

They basque in the notion of Death,
while we charish Life.

In the end we will win,
but only if we are willing to help them realize
that their way of life leads only to death.

Either that or we kill so many of them they give up.

I know you enjoy pointing out time and time again the fact that companies like Blackwater make money off doing contract labor. I'd be wiling to bet it wouldn't be a job you would eagerly take, regardless of pay. Unless you weren't concerned with the possibility of being murdered and left to hang from a bridge in Fallujah. Less than half the money spent in Iraq is going to contract labor (Ironicaly we probably need more Merc's and less troops). Let's enjoy the little good news we hear from Iraq and try not to fall into the stereotypical cliche that even good news is turned into bad news by the anti war movement. These last couple weeks have seen the top guys over there captured, the ones actually doing the planning. There will be plenty of bombings tomorrow for your argument.

Justice for one. I am sure they will be replaced, but assume they put thier most competent members in top positions from their pool of would be terrorist masterminds. It opens the doors for the less skilled to assume the role and increases the probability of more mistakes. Not exactly rocket science... hooray. But you have demonstrated your viewpoint, taking out leaders who are planning attacks is pointless. You go ahead and run with that.

You might also pay attention to the article which suggest he could have been taken out by his own. I would say internal struggles are significant. You may stick to your logic, but the relentlessness of the insurgency speaks for itself despite numerous kills on behalf of the US.
Furthermore, i may be wrong, but I seriously doubt immersing oneself in a sympathetic population and carrying out suicidal/guerilla tactics against an isolated body of soldiers is even close to rocket science.

Are you proclaiming that there are not organized groups carrying out attacks in Iraq? I never claimed to understand the minds of animals. I do understand warfare. And here is some late breaking news just for you, our enemies think they are at war with us. They plan, organize, and conduct thought out attacks every day. Taking one of their leaders out is a good thing no matter how you desperately try to dress it up as irrelevant. You will just have to find someone else to surrender to.

I have my own reasons for not being in Iraq. Ones that are rarely mentioned by anyone else here. But if we left tomorrow and this guy is sleeping with the fishes, I will be "gloating". He kills women and children indiscriminately.

Tell us how someone would fly a building into a skyscraper? lol, jks jks but seriously, it takes real courage and guts to go to war, it may not seem a big deal when you say it but just think about the hardship that the soldiers famalies go through, imagine not getting up at 9 in the morning and having food and drink, or computers or internets, im proud of the soldiers i personly know and realise what they are doing for us

Note that I hold no personal attack against you Kmarion. I have not been to Iraq either, so this is a discussion between two ppl detached from the situation.
Indeed, the killing of a leader may be a 'good' thing for the fellas fighting over there, but my question is:
Is it right to assume that things will improve just because 'another one bits the dust"? Is it right to assume even, that such organisation skill of these 'animals' decreases with each kill, or do his/her successors gain more motivation and XP to increasingly lethalise their attacks?
The situation over there suggests other than your opinion.

You do know that it doesn't matter? The biggest advantage of your enemy is their command structure: they don't have one. At least, no integral one. They don't recieve anything more than broad directives. They aren't a conventional army.

It matters for the fact it is one less murderer in Iraq. In the grand scheme of things it probably won't have an impact. But if the reports are true, that there is some kind of disagreement in attacking civilians within their inner circles, I would say it matters much. That would be a change in attitude and tactics. We will have to wait and see, I am not holding my breathe considering the timing of these reports and Presidential "vetoes".
