Have you ever took justice into your own hands because something unfair happened? Did you break the law? Why didn't you inform the proper authorities? Feel free to explain (as long as you aren't going to jail for that).

Yes. I smashed in the rear windscreen of a car with a ballpoint hammer in retaliation for my brother being assaulted by a group of people. It was the second time my brother had been seriously assaulted in two years. The first time we took the culprits to court - they got a slap on the wrist and a meaningless compensation payment which they were given 6 months to cough up for. The second time we took the law into our own hands with me, one of my brothers and my father laying in wait for the group as they returned from a night out. Me and my brother smashed the car up and my dad smashed the ringleaders face in. We NEVER heard a peep out of them again.

We organised it - I brought the hammer with me in the car. We went over to their locality and lay in wait for them circa 4am.sergeriver wrote:

What a jerk shooting a dog. If someone shoots my dog I'm sure I would have to do time.krazed wrote:

I've never really had any experience with hardcore crime to take justice and beat the crap out of someone with it. Only incident I can remember is when I almost got sideswiped at this T-intersection (while learning HOW to drive) and should've chased the dude to get his license plate but I was stunned and nearly off the road so I had to collect myself first.
i have yet to find out why he did it, just thought he could get away with it i guess
Yeah. Quite a recent one.
In the local pub about 2 months ago, there was some sick twisted pervert who had been terrorising all of the local girls for a while. He was a new face and no-one had seen him before then all of a sudden he started becoming a regular.
Anyhoo, he started off by hitting on all of the female bar staff and as time progressed he started taking upskirt pictures of some lasses at the bar, one of whom was my ex-girlfriend. Well when this happened I just flipped (I had had a few beers) and beat the shit out of him. He hasnt been back since.
If it was any other pub I would have been barred, but the managers were sympathetic to what had happened as one of them had abuse of the guy before.
Note: I am not normally the violent type, and dont normally get into fights but this guy was a total prick.

Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.
When I was a lad (not that long ago!) we had no Police protection, the police were the "enemy" so all justice was delivered and enforced by the community, and it was brutal. Punishment beatings were a daily occurrence and pretty horrific, the classic punishment was the shooting/smashing of kneecaps - peoples legs would be nailed to a piece of 2 by 4 so that the knee cap would be smashed removing the nail, ankles were also smashed with baseball bats / hurleys. Then the ultimate sanction would be a bullet to the back of the head in some alley way.
I voted no because I have not actually broken the law yet, but in the past I have tried to.
When I was a teenager and still living at home, our house had been broken into a few times and also kids had been throwing stones, and hitting golf balls at the windows. (we lived right next to a golf course). The people responsible came from the other side of the golf course, which was a pretty bad area and a lot of crime went on.
They were only teenagers themselves and used to just come over the course and cause havoc with our street, so myself, my brothers and a few friends decided that enough was enough and something had to be done.
We met up every night for a whole week, gathered some "weapons" (metal bars, nun-chucks, etc..) and then lay in wait for the bad kids to come back.
Fortunately - Unfortunately (depends one what would have happened), the kids didn't come back again while I was living at home. I don't know if maybe they saw us and didn't want to get the shit kicked out of them, or they got bored of terrorising our street. But if they had come when we were there, then all hell would have broken lose and things would have happened.

I was raising my first drink to my mouth New Years Eve last year when a mate came into the pub with 3 women saying "just seen a group of guys throw a bottle through the window of your car, but didn't challenge them as I was with women" So he, they guy I was drinking with and myself went to my car which I had parked up for the night and went down the road in the said car. My m8 pointed them out. I was fuming as someone had kicked the mirror off two days before. I jumped out of the car a 2 of the we fuckers bolted over a wall but 4 of them froze in terror so me and my m8 basically beat the fuck out of them on the street, which was very busy at the time. Cars were pulling up, people were shouting to leave them alone etc.
My other m8, did crowd control. I actually flicked off my rage because I heard this old dear saying "I'm calling the police, that's disgraceful....." my m8 replied, " see that car window smashed? They did that" the old dear replied, "ohh good on you..........go awn!!!" I had a laugh and stopped. I met one of them on the street a week later and he put his head down and went to walk past me, I uppercutted him on the nose and told him I was going to do that everytime I saw him.
I am not too proud of my actions, but it was justice and the wee fuckers will think before doing it again, specially if they can't walked down the street without getting their nose broke.
BTW if I had called the police they wouldn't have got them. I got them just outside the entrance to the beach were they would have disappeared.

Similar happened to me. I was returning from a night out, and was assaulted by up to 15 lads. I took the kicking and informed the police. The ringleader got a slap on the wrist and made to pay me £75 compensation, for a broken nose. So they were after me fro roughly 2 years all at the same time harrassing me, until one night out, i saw the ringleader and he saw me. I went to the toilet knowing he would follow me in, so I was standing against the urinal pretending to have a piss, he pushed me in the back, and I swung round and battered the shit out of him. He was a 6 footer I'm only 5 foot odd, and he was whimpering like a little bitch. This made my day. However, next day he turns up at my mum and dads house with knives and a car full of lads for me. lol, dumb bastard knew I didnt live there, so next night I on my own went to his house and smashed his car up and smashed his house in, I knew he was inside but he wouldnt come out. I believe in self justice.CameronPoe wrote:

funny thing about people like that, they usualy only start shit when theres alot of them
Yes.
In 2000 I was flatting with my gf of the time, and another guy. Another flatmate moved out, and the room he left was quickly filled by a guy called damon.
Now damon was alright initially, he had a few money problems but this was at a time when literally every second student was being affected by a WINZ (govt department responsible for student allowance/loan at the time) fuckup. No money for several months was commonplace, and landlords were understanding.
The guy didn't pay rent for what ended up being nine weeks. This didn't seem like anything out of the ordinary, but two weeks before we gave him the boot he left a bank statement on his computer by mistake; it detailed a WINZ (dole) payment. I asked every few days for the following two weeks if WINZ had sorted his shit out, he said no.
We got sick of this, and the compulsive lies (he was 4th in line for the scottish throne, could talk to elementals and reckoned he was fucking my girlfriend, among other such porkers) so we kicked him out; 1 weeks notice, the minimum legally required due to circumstances.
He moved, and continued to be a fuckwit, so we engaged on a campaign of harrassment. He moved a lot, so we'd find out where he lives and go fuck with his place and car. Only minor stuff, most of it involved the disposal of rotten food (got 2 month old milk?...the milk that knows its own name, chhhh...), signing his email addresses up to porn spam lists, harrassing him on IRC etc...the best we did was the drunk prank calls, god they were fun and damn he was a stupid fuck for playing along all the time!! We spread his number, put it up in public toilets etc...he got contacted by loo cleaners about it, and one guy (a current flatmate incidently) almost got charged with threatening his life because of a prank call.
By far the best bit of revenge wasn't our own. He was big on emotional manipulation. BIG on it. "I'll kill myself if you don't..." He pulled this shit on a mate's gf. My mate decided not to unleash his brownbelt skills on damon, but to instead pose as a chick on ICQ and arrange to meet damon for sex one night...at a graveyard...and then make a website about it... Most of our wider social group at the time shared common mailing lists, forums etc, so you can imagine what this website (now defunct, but the URL was http://www.geocities.com/karen_wenlock/sad.html if anybody can get cache) did to him...
At the time I was into retaliation, but was quite the pacifist. Had such a thing happened in the last year or two I dare say my revenge would have quite a lot in common with CameronPoe's.

When I was in the army of the privates was caught stealing some money from 1 of the other guys room. So his punishment was that everyone on his floor could walk into his room and take something of his. Everything went. The TV, computer, stereo etc etc. I only got his clock radio rofl, others had got the best stuff before me.

Well, I'll tell you mine, i didn't actually deal out any punishment as i couldn't catch him.
A few months ago i was alone outside farmfoods at about 11PM. Then a guy about 21, Muslim, slim came up to me and asked me for the time. Having watched the TV show "How not to die" earlier that week, i knew that that's how thieves get to know if you have a phone/expansive watch. I just said no. He kept asking for the time and eventually he felt my pockets and felt my phone. I wasn't in the mood to do anything, he had about 5 years on me, it was a shit part of town, and being the first attempted crime on me i was fairly shocked.
Anyway in the end i wouldn't let him have my phone, so he said he was going to hit me. Well my dad came in the car after a few minutes and the guy went.
Later that week i saw the guy in daylight by himself. I was with a good friend and we chased him. Me not being a good long distance runner anymore since my knees got fucked i gave up.
1 week on and i notice a newspaper story. A guy fitting the description of around 20, Asian and slim had stole a little girls phone and in doing so broke her fingers.

I used to think if you went through the proper channels you'll be okay but it doesn't always work out like that. Different situations call for different approaches. Like Cameronpoe's story of retaliation, if you're living in a rural area and risk seeing your attackers on a continual basis you have to do something effective to nip the situation in the bud and that often won't involve the law. In situations in the city with random attacks I've been able to deal with situations succesfully with the police but when I'm up home and get hassle it's usually dealt with vigilante style.
I never had to take justice into my hands, but reading your stories it doesn't seem unfair what you guys did.
police usually come and arrests the ones who called in and lets the crimnal go
police are fooking retards
police are fooking retards
If anyone is willing to fuck with you, the law obviously isn't enough of a deterrent to them.
