Like you say its a cultural thing, in Europe kids are exposed to alcohol and the 'proper' ways to drink it.
Over here kids are taken completely out of the loop because of pubs and not eating with the family (they dont get any experience of the European ways), and its seen as the 'cool' thing to be getting pissed.
But is it going to get any better? Probably not, and its not the worst thing ever.
So get used to it!

Well most licensed premesis now use the "Under 21" scheme where if you look under 21 you must have a Drivers License or Passport. Each having their own security features e.g the Drivers License under a UV light.
