I agree with the house party.

And I drink to be sociable, I'm not aiming for the drunk stage. It's just OTT

Great. So everyone, choose either Drugs or Booze to enjoy yourself. It is the only way.

/sarcasm
Well given the choice I'd prefer the problem to be booze related than drug related! And I never once said drugs were about enjoying yourself, for most drinking is about relaxing and forgetting about you weekly work.

Like you say its a cultural thing, in Europe kids are exposed to alcohol and the 'proper' ways to drink it.
Over here kids are taken completely out of the loop because of pubs and not eating with the family (they dont get any experience of the European ways), and its seen as the 'cool' thing to be getting pissed.

But is it going to get any better? Probably not, and its not the worst thing ever.
So get used to it!
Because people DON'T want it to get better. They enjoy killing themselves slowly.
But that is the thing I am trying to point out. It is only bad in Britain. And yes, I live here, but I don't need nor want to get accustomised to this culture. I would prefer to die first.

Because the only real ID's they'll accept are driving licenses and passports. Pretty hard to fake those with all the holograms and the 'feel' of them.

Seriously you give me the impression your like 60 or something, ask any peeps that are between 16-25 they will say yeh get pissed!.
Ask any peeps in Britain.
Why do I need to be hellishly old to have such a strong view?
I don't disrespect drinkers, or hate them. But I hate it when someone tries to argue that getting drunk is fun and good for life.
Ok maybe not hellishly old but you seem very old fashioned.

Well most licensed premesis now use the "Under 21" scheme where if you look under 21 you must have a Drivers License or Passport. Each having their own security features e.g the Drivers License under a UV light. Otherwise the most common form of accepted ID excluding those 2 are, The Portman Group ID Cards which bear a PASS hologram.

Whoooaaaah! Its not that much of a problem to go and kill yourself over! Have you actually been out recently? Its not actually that bad, people with their mates goofing around, making idiots of themselves.
I dont know if its a problem with Scotland, but your acting like all drunks are killer maniacs who specifically target Spanish citizens within Scotland!

All you do in parties in the UK is get drunk. How exciting.

Not.

It really is quite pathetic; the current binge drinking generation in Britain.
Remember this, it is only Britain with this huge problem in Europe. Nowhere else. Not counting Russia, they have bigger problems on their mind.
Ah, good ol' Britain; killing teenagers minute by minute.
Learn how to be civilised with drinking. If you don't then you are not mature and really, REALLY stupid.
Ever been to scandinavian countries or Finland?
I'm pretty sure that there are a lot more underaged drinkers here than in Britain.

I might be wrong though, never really heard of a brittish underaged drinking problem...

No, you are wrong. British underage drinking problem is the worst in Europe. Excluding Russia.

No, you are wrong. Nowhere in that article does it say its the worst in Europe, its says its increasing but the article is mostly about child well being being the worst in Europe (which is pretty disgraceful, but I suppose the chavs are to blame!).

Edit: "It is on this dimension that the UK scored particularly badly in the survey, having far higher levels of ‘risk behaviour’ than all the other countries." Doesnt say its the worst on drinking, just risk behaviour!

Where does the risk behaviour come from? Drinking.
I was just giving you some facts, not relating to drinking, about the childhood generation of Britain.

It isn't really the fact that it is bad. Kids do not realise the damage it causes, to them and to their families.
They also think it is cool to get drunk. It isn't. You look like a prat, you act like one, and you are 100 times more prone to killing yourself.
I don't understand, there are no word connotations with alcohol meaning "cool, lets drink till we can't walk!".
The "cool" part of the drinking is really what pisses me off.

At parties. In the city. You see it everywhere.
I watch people get drunk until the point where they actually cannot talk. You gotta drag them off the couch and shove them somewhere a bit less "obvious". I have been at parties when people just gate crashed and brought damage, drink and anger to the families house.
I have seen guys just waste their life because they punched a policeman and got sent to jail.
There is no point in it. But people are not going to stop anytime soon because they dislike the truth.

I agree, no point in drinking until you're legless or you don;t know what you're doing.  There have been times (Monday just gone for one) when I can't remember what totally happened or how I got home but I know my personal instincts kept me safe and sane.  But drinking so you can't stand or talk, that's a step (or a crawl?) too far.  I've seen it happen to other people and I've said that'll never happen to me, it's just daft.

As for binge drinking, the Government's definition is ludicrous.  Today, after work, a couple of friends and I went to the pub, as you do.  A round each meant we had three pints each.  To the government, that's binge drinking.  Monday was a binge (6 pints, 4 double-shot cocktails) but not today.
