Okay, so I was looking through the Alienware site to see how expensive things have gotten and I saw that they had the 8800 ultra as a customization option.

And it said it would ship by May 15th.

Does this mean that it'll be out around then?  Or did we already know that...

Are you just asking, or are you actually considering this card?  From what I've seen, it is barely faster than the GTX, and certainly not enough to justify the enormous cost.

Seriously. Only get this card if you got money burnin' a hole in your pocket.

17th is the street date. But yeah, it's not worth it compared to the GTX, only about 10-15% gain.

I'd consider it just because I have a 6800 Ultra. Tradition, you know...but by the time I do toss up a new rig, it'll probably be an 8900 something or other.

But if the 8800 Ultra is only $100 more than the GTX on release and you're throwing together a new computer, might as well. For just an upgrade, not at all.

lol no I'm not considering the card, I just wanted to know because it would potentially mean a GTX price drop

(remember that is UK date system)

I hear theres a shop in vienna that are selling them right now

Would hope theres a GTX price drop, but I doubt much of one, there would of been if ATI got the 2900XTX working on time *sigh*

If you have a 8800GTX then why bother with the $400+ increase in price?? Its not worth it.

If your building a new rig from scratch then I would POSSIBLY recommend it. Im of 2 minds ATM......

800 bucks for ultra, 600 for GTX.
