I am a Master Seargent right now with 35k global points and all the basic badges which are the requirements for 1st seargent but I haven't been promoted yet. Does anyone know what else I have to do to get the next promotion?
Did you recieve the badges necessary after making the rank of Master Seargent? If you did then you are not available for the rank of first seargent. I had the same problem. Now I am just working till I get 50,000 and I have all the requirements for the advanced rank when I reach that plateu.MRmajpayne wrote:

If you get the badges reuired after you become a master sergeant, you cannot become a first sergeant.

I agree..they should change that in the patch...but you do get 2 weapon unlocks when you reach 20,000 so not all is lost.MRmajpayne wrote:

And, it isn't stupid that you can't change from Master Seargent to First Seargent. There are several instances of parallel ranks in the military. Each is usually down a different career path or has different responsibilities. there usually isn't a lot of movement between them.
Personally I think it would have been nice if the parallel ranks would have a different "special ability" so that by choosing one you have to choose between two different incentives. Maybe something like one rank would give you two UAVs or something.
I to have a wierd prob. It says I will be fisrt sergeant next but I cannot get master sergeant ? I have all of the badges and a few are veteran. I find this rather wierd unless I'll go up two ranks when I hit 20,000.
What I don't understand is how you it is possible not to have the required badges at that point. It takes about what, 100+ hours to become 1st sgt? If you can't manage to get the required badges in that time period than I say that you don't deserve to become 1st sgt.
Some of the badges you have to work for though and not everyone trys to run around getting these different badges. I had to look at the requirements for each basic badge and then decide to try to get it took me a couple of days. Seems like to me the engineer badge was the hardest, the repair one not the combat one. I just didnt know the different requirements before i became master sgt.
I played the game utilizing pretty much everything when I first began. Getting BASIC badges in everything is not a challenge. I didn't have to run around trying to do anything in specific. But that's just me.MRmajpayne wrote:

You can still get Sergeant Major if you get the Basic Armor Badge, Basic Transport Badge, Basic Helicopter Badge, Basic Aviator Badge, Basic Air Defense Badge, and Basic Ground Defense Badge by the time you reach 50K points.
I gave up the chance to get 1st sgt last night too. I said to myself, fuckit the new patch with better ranks will ensure that I'm not at that rank for too much longer anyway.

I had all the necessary awards waaay b4 i got 2 1st sarg, I usually just set myself an award goal and and so on, it makes it much more satisfying than just waiting for a random award 2 crop up!
It shouldn't be changed, it rewards those who have actually worked hard in the game to become higher than others.
I thought it would probably have changed before reading this but this now means i'm gonna pull my finger out at getting my goddam basic knife!
The difference between the 2 is that 1st Sgt will have higher priority when applying for commander vs a Master Sgt. Other than the differences are minor unless your in the military for real where there are much bigger differences between the 2. The same goes for Sgt Major vs Master Gunnery Sgt.

U only will get promoted to First Sarge when you have all requirements for that rank at the moment u hit the 20.000 points.. if U dont have those requirements than ur just like me stuck with master sarge till u promote to either Master Gunnery Sarge or Sergeant Major.. theres so many sgt's im confused so which is better first sgt or mstr sgt?
1st Sgt is better than Master Sgt. Sgt Major is better than Master Gunnery Sgt. They have the same pay grade/rank but they are different in the qualification for the position both in the game in and in the military.
Now my question of the day.
In the game it says my next rank is Master Sgt even though I have all the awards supposedly required for 1st Sgt. Is this common or am I missing something?
