My budget is 100$ MAX, I was thinking http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6817152026

because of the great ampage, reviews and power output, but are there any better for 100$ or less? I know this powersupply is overkill for my current system but I want something that last me a while for when I upgrade to C2D/SLi

I would not buy Ultra's low-end models. It's $65 with a $65 rebate for a reason. Ultra is getting rid of their lower tier line because they have a bad reputation based on many failures that have taken entire rigs down with them.

I'd recommend:

Hi,

Don't be fooled by watts or style, or especially price. You want a solid PSU with a high efficiency rate, strong amp rails and less noise is a plus. I just purchased one of these myself! Cost me £80 though, so you're getting a bargain.

I second that ... I own one of these and it rules - The design is really nice because you can unplug the cables from the PSU easily and allows you to have a very clean wiring config inside your box.

I should point out that my Hiper died after 8 months use, hence the HX520!

Then you got a lemon, Hiper is very good quality.

Nah Kyle does speaketh the truth, hiper either own or explode too hit and miss for me to spend cash on, as always I'll recommend enermax as well, they own all bar none, Corsair's PSUs as I have come to discover are good too despite my earlier reservations about them.

but corsair is best. the only reason why  I didn't buy corsair psu was that I wanted four pci-e power cables

Corsair PSUs are just rebranded Seasonic ones. Very few differences.

But that's fine, since Seasonic PSUs are nice.
