A much bigger hurdle will be getting past the influence of competitive markets like alcohol and tobacco, who have lobbied for years to keep pot illegal for fear of losing their share of the recreational market.

Even a lot of the Religious Right doesn't mind the idea of legalization.

Probably the only way that pot will be legalized is if Big Tobacco is given the exclusive rights to sell weed.  Then, they'd be all for it...

The government already grows it...they should turn the crops over to 'experienced' citizens...
