High Temperatures for no real reason

It all started with me moving my computer to a different corner of the room

I started it up and there was this scary noise coming from what i thought was the CPU fan

So i wait 3 days for a new fan to come in the mail, pop it in, and i still hear the noise.

I Push on the PowerSupply and decide to shut it off

I turn it on again a few minutes later determined to figure out where the sound is coming from, but the sound had went away!

So far, everything has been fine except my temps.

Before, my CPU, Motherboard, and Harddrive all idled around 31c. and my Videocard around 50c

Well, since that incedent, i went back to my old CPU fan because the new fan that came was a molex connector not a 3pin. (The old fan works fine remember)

But my idling temperatures are like 7-10C Degrees higher then before, and when doing simple things like installing or playing a flash game my temperatures have been seen around 43c

Also, i tried playing a decent-graphic'd game called Black and White, well, im monitoring my temps on another monitor and while the game was playing my video card reached 85C before i decided enough was enough, it was only going to get higher. Suprisingly my CPU stayed around 45C at the most despite my incredible Video Card increase.

Now keep in mind before this, my video card would be at maybe 65C at full tilt.

So, something needs to be causing every temperature to rise signifigantly, what do you think it could be?

I've narrowed it down to the following things:
The Summertime temperatures
My computer now being in a corner

But i really dont see how this could be the cause of the problem because there isn't that much difference in temperatures actually inside the house. I do think the corner has something to do with it, but really, it doesnt feel much warmer in that area and with that fan idk how it could be.

If you replaced and opened stuff etc, you may have damaged the Thermal Paste. I recommend a new coat on your CPU and GPU to ensure it is cooling the way it is meant to be. 85C is still fine a graphics card playing games.

lol, the dust doesnt have to do with any of this? trust me, dust is bad. and the fan can cause interference (the white one) and the power supply doesn't have much area to blow hot air out.

I didn't look at the pictures. MEC is right here, you need to remove some of that dust, otherwise you are just setting yourself up for bad temperatures.

No shit, looks like you could have a family of prairie dogs living in there. Go to Wal-Mart and get some canned air, Windex, an empty spray bottle and some Klean-Strip S-L-X Denatured Alcohol(in the paint section). Take everything out of your case and clean the inside with the Windex and some paper towels. Then fill an empty spray bottle with the S-L-X and clean all the guts with it. Denatured alcohol is perfectly safe for this. Then you have the canned air on tap to prevent future dust build-up

I would if i was advanced enough to put my computer back together after its apart. I know, its easy, everyone says that, which it probly is, but im not taking apart $1000+ worth of stuff because i don't have the money to replace it if i break it.

Getting rid of the dust would be a start.

As would getting a new case, with a decent through flow, and keeping the side on.

but what you guys are missing is the temps were fine before the noise problem. The same ammount of dust was there before the noise and i had fine temps

Also all i did was replace the fan on the CPU i didnt take anything off.

Well, if you don't have enough money to that then at least get Dust Off or something similar.

Most, computer stores will have something that, if you turn off your pc and disconnect the PS, you can spray this pressurized air into your pc to remove the dust. It works quite well, I do it every 3-4 months and it lowers my temps each time. 2 bottles (which last 4-5 times) runs about $8.

God, air is sooo much cheaper in the US - I'm lucky if I can find a single can for <£10.

that may be, but it would be purely coincidental because i didnt take off the heatsink JUST the fan

Not if he took only the fan off, and not the heatsink.

Also, if I read his posts correctly, his issues started before he took the fan off.

It's possible the in taking the fan off it wiggled the heatsink just enough to unseat it and basically ruin the paste underneath. Best to remove the heatsink, clean the old past off with S-L-X(great stuff, so many uses) and reapply new paste.

The noise problem yes, the whole reason i removed the fan was because i thought it was going bad, but now i see that it was not the CPU fan so i put it back in. So theres no REAL change. Plus, in the time i was changing i vaccumed the dust out of the HS, in my picture it looks dusty inside but thats just the flash or something, its clean in the HS.

Yes. Because your fans appear to be at the front (presumably blowing in?) the airflow in the case is very bad. I didn't notice the space for the 80mm's before - but MECtallica is right - whack some out-blowing 80mm's in there and put the side back on and it should help some.

Basically you ideally want the airflow to go from the bottom of the front of the case, in over the HDD, then up over the mobo, videocard and CPU before being exhausted out at the top of the back.

I dont possibly see how thats better then a 5 inch fan blowing over everything

You might also want to disconnect some things and vacuum out the dust. There might be too much dust to use a Can of Air on.
