Perhaps, they should have used the word "minor" instead of children.  There's a big difference between executing a 17 year old and a 10 year old.
I think that some of the hullabaloo is over the fact that minors or children are being executed, but in all honesty, some 17 year olds are serious pricks. I just got outta my teen years, I can vouch.

I think the bigger issue is that fairness of the trials. I mean, if a 17 year old is running around stabbing people to death, maybe they should be put down. However, we need to be like 99.3% positive that they're the one stabbing people.

Agreed...  I also believe that if we can try a 17 year old as an adult, he should have the right to vote and drink.

An 18 year old is an adult, but he still can't drink...

That too...  yet another bullshit law.

If you're old enough to die for your country, you're old enough to drink.

The drinking and smoke laws are arbitrary age laws in all actuality. What I do not understand is why they aren't all one age, 18, for everything to become non-prohibited.

Anyway, the choice to try a minor as an adult is a case by case decision, so I think that if you want to put execution on the table, it needs to be a case by case decision.

I don't think people are gonna have a problem executing a 17 year old gang banger who's killed 20 people, but they'll sure as hell have a problem putting the 10 year old sociopath to death for strangling his friend to death.

True again...  and I wish we had a system where eligibility for voting, drinking, and conscripting were all at the same age.  That would make more sense than the current one....
