I've had a few flying lessons (a few hours in total) that go towards a PPL, and after college I'm going here:

I looked at that, it was £45k for the flying then £6k tuition fees, and then you have to consider accommodation and living expenses at bcuc, too much for me. I'd rather save money and go to Florida on my own!!

Actually it's 9K for tuition fees and 46K for flying, and although orlando is alot cheaper I think I'd prefer to get an honors degree at the same time.

Bcuc do give you back 1k from tuition fees every year so that's where the 6k came from.

For anybody looking at flying for a career I recommend you subscribe to FTN (flight training news), it has useful articles and it provides information about many flying schools.

I have about 20 hours flying experience, so after uni, ill either go RAF, and get PPL through that, or ill go commercial, and get it that way. Easier than drivin a car, in terms of making the aircraft move.

I don't know what the safety is like in the u.s with regards to training, but over here in the U.K, its pretty strict, so your mate must have been terribly unlucky. Im sorry to hear about it.

my grandfather is a flight instructor, I started logging hours when I was 16 but through the course of being a lame teenager I ended up ditching it for hanging out and doing worthless shit.

Good luck, don't give up in it ... $$$!/£££! hobby

If your going to become a pilot, make sure you know the components to flying, such as aerodynamics, navigation, communication, weather and so on.
