Sorry if this seems like bad-news mongering, but just to recap.
5 dead 3 missing after ambush on a patrol in Mahmoudiya.

Same area where 2 US soldiers went missing and later found dead with a bomb tied between their legs.

Discuss this if you want to. Iraq seems to be a worsening hellhole steadily declining down the 7 plains of hell.

Iraq is a dangerous place, and a well executed ambush can turn into things like this. . . .keep in mind, our enemy isnt stupid, they know how to fight. Its sad for everyone involved, the key is to find those 3 missing guys! I know that the Army is on the hunt for them bigtime! I sure hope for the soldiers sake and their families that they are found ok!!

Well let's be realistic here. You seriously can't expect them to take us on normally now do you. They don't have tanks/planes/kevlar body armour and all that. These guys aren't stupid, they're gonna fight dirty because that's the only feasible way they can cause harm. It's upto us to find a proper solution to that. Here we are spending billions on making things more accurate but we're still getting bogged down by insurgents hiding behind civilians. What can you do eh?

We're not like, Russia or something. We can't just go there and bomb the hell out of the place without giving a shit about the civilians.

The situation is like Vietnam, they easily defeated the main elements of the NVA. But it was the guerrilla tactics of the Viet Cong that took their toll.
