Hey guys I need a little help!

I've just replaced my Opteron 240 with a 252 one, it is recognised in the BIOS (v. 1007) as a 252 (2.6Ghz) and boots into Windows.  This is where it goes wrong.  I can reach the desktop, the pointer is there with the egg timer  and the toolbar is missing (well there the outline where it should be but not properly there/visible).  Now i cant move the pointer or get anything to work.

Specs:
SK8N motherboard
2Gb (4 x 512MB) reg ECC memory
9800XT AGP
40gb Maxtor
Liteon DVD RW

Now this worked fine when I had the 240 in it, is this just a simple task of reinstalling XP and all will be good or is there something else?  I will Google this and check AMD forums tomorrow at work but I just thought I would throw this out there.  Help/ideas/thoughts would be much appreciated.

Cheers guys!

P.S. If i get this sorted I will have a 240 (Sledgehammer) spare.

Sometimes when you buy a new CPU you must reformat. Not always, but sometimes.

You probably just need to reinstall windows.

I think theres only 1 more BIOS revision after the 1007 one (1008) and thats a beta.  But ill try a reinstall after work today and see if that solves it!  Cheers guys.

In fact try a Repair Install (same thing but you keep your stuff)
