k heres my problem, so i put in my 2142 disc, and the auto play doesnt come up, so i go in to My Computer to do the manual start but both of my disc drives, E and F arent there.... i went into my device manager and it shows them both there but with little !s over them.

this is what it tells me when i go to properties for them

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

what do i do?

uninstall, and then reinstall the drivers- using Device Manager.

yes, it solves 80% of problems

it means you dont have to hassle around with drivers.

lol, I prefer to mess around with drivers for hours instead of touching system restore. For me it creates more problem than it solves

While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

erm might be the ide cable.  ive had a problem where when running a cd and dvd on the same cable led to driver conflicts or something similar and had to take one of them off to get either to work for some reason.

SR sucks.

All you do is roll back the clock and 9 times out of 10 you're in the exact same boat in a few weeks anyways.  Best to find the problem and solve it.

First off, run Check Disk (right click the C drive and choose tools) to make sure that it's not a problem with the drive.  If the place that the driver is located is damaged, windows can't load it.

Then, download the drivers for your motherboard.  They include the IDE/SATA controller drivers which is what is not loading properly.  Install them, reboot and you should be fine.  Go here and download CPUZ to find out everything about your board (make and model) and then google the drivers to get a link.
