LOL WTF?!?!?!? so cooling is the limiting factor when overclocking R600 core even when using LN2!!!!!!

The card would namely have had managed even higher clock frequencies if it wouldn't have been for the heat; it was too hot! As mentioned, we were using a solid copper container filled with liquid nitrogen with a boiling point of -196°C and yet this wasn't enough to cool the R600 beast. At idle the copper container's temperature rose from -90°C to around -70°C which made it impossible to push the frequencies any further.

there is no other thread like this.
1) highest gpu core speed ever
2) hottest gpu ever
and so on...

and why you don't say the same about half million 8800 threads

I dont see where it says heat is a limiting factor, its the core

No I was meaning how many threads you are going to make to do with this card.  And granted about the 8800, but theres usually different people making them up.  Not critising, just noticed many of these threads to do with this card have been made by your good self

It would be my guess that this line implies heat is the limiting factor.

Heat it certainly the limiting factor, which is a real shame as LN2 is not practical for use more than an hour. Means your average person is not going to get much more out of it than what ATI send you.

What everybody is forgetting is that the main reason people will be buying these cards is for their DX10 capabilities and since all the benchmarks that have been done so far are DX9 tells me that nobody here knows what the better card will be. So i dont know why everyone is bitchin.

If for one dont give a shit what card i have ATI or Nvidia, i just buy what is best for the money at the time.
